When not playing guitar in the band The Other Half, Dave is busy keeping the rock and roll tradition alive by teaching music at a private high school. However, this isn’t your average high school. No marching band or choir here. We’re talking guitars, basses, keyboards and drums. If you’ve ever seen the movie School of Rock, then you have a good idea of what he does. However, being a classical guitarist and graduate of the William Paterson University music department he’s no stranger to the world of classical music. He devoted most of his college years to studying the classical guitar. However, this appreciation only came after years of jamming to Iron Maiden songs in high school. “Its all music†as he puts it and “anyone who tries to trivialize Jimi Hendrix or Randy Rhodes obviously never tried to play their solos.â€Dave has been playing with his twin brother Dan all his life performing mostly in cover bands. The most famous of which was MUNCH. You’ve probably heard of them??? OK maybe not. Before that they’re were a few others dating all the way back to 6th grade when they formed the band THE ARMORED DESTROYERS. (See picture). Iron Maiden (Dave Murray and Adrain Smith) were by far his greatest influences. Aces High and Hallowed be thy Name(his favorite songs) could be heard from their basement window from blocks away. His mom and neighbors didn’t seem to mind though, or maybe they just didn’t have the heart to tell them to shut up. Either way this paved the road for their musical future and they thank them for it. Aside from Iron Maiden, bands like Judas Priest and Motley Crue’s pictures lined his bedroom wall. After HS and he took down the posters, cut his mullet and left his metal years behind. Although they never fully went away. After looking for an original band for quite some time and auditioning countless musicians, Dave came across an ad in the classified section of Stepping Out. After calling and meeting with Greg Merkle, the drummer, and playing some of their respective songs together Dave and Dan knew it was a match. Now they only needed a bass player and thankfully before too long Steve Kostyn, an acquantance of Greg’s, joined the band. The band was complete and has since received rave reviews from newspapers such as the Aquarian which called their songs “legitimate pop-rock gems.â€Equipment used- PRS custom 22, Rivera Fandango 212 100W amp, Ovation acoustic
