The Laboratory

Sometime in 2004, Chris Michaels and Matt Pleasant pooled their resources and opened this comfy recording studio in an antebellum home near downtown Jackson, MS. Since that time, The Lab has been home to Jackson bands Living Better Electrically, and King Elementary, and home away from home for others including the American Analog Set. Countless other bands have slept on our floors and couches after braving the dismal local club scene. The Lab closed it's doors in the late summer of 2006 as Chris & Matt were touring the world with Sparklehorse. Thanks to all who came by and "borrowed" our SM 57's & 58's, cables, stands, etc... and left your cigarette butt-filled beer bottles anywhere but the trash bins.
