About Me

In the early ages of 2005 two Fifers found themselves in a dusty windowless room high above sea level. Dazed and some what bewildered by the lack of sunlight they scurried around for things to fill their time. Armed with wit, their raw vocal talent and instruments at hand they crafted tunes of truth, humor and myth. A musical bond was established and they made a pact to extend this bond with others, building on their arrangements and getting other musicians and like minded people involved. Just over a year passed and the two men emerged from their Bothy confident of their creations and a damn sight hairier. Their quest had begun....................................................... ....................................................Stonedyk e are songwriting duo Nathan Ferguson and Ewan Masson. Having been writing together since early 2005 the pair took their music to the road just over a year later ably accompanied by many musicians along the way including Kellie Buchanan and regular percussionist Douglas Pirie. By 2007 Stonedyke were gaining a great reputation in their native Fife and beyond with great live performances at Folk clubs such as Dunfermline, Glenfarg, Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy Acoustic music club. With performances at Dunfermline Folk weekend and a Highland tour under their belt, Stonedyke are now a well established live act in the local acoustic music scene. Stonedyke can currently be seen playing regular Open Mic slots around Fife with hopefully more Folk club gigs in the coming year........................................................ .................................................."Rounding things off are a folk band from Fife called Stonedyke. ……………………This band has a bit of class though. They manage to be sentimental without being twee. They claim to sing songs of death and destruction but actually bring us warmth and humanity instead. The songs are not just thrown together. "Not Alone" impresses with its intelligent lyrics and sensitive arrangement. ………………They even manage to squeeze in some humour with a song about the trials and tribulations of having ginger hair. Whilst folk music would normally have Bluesbunny reaching for a gun, this band would make him reach for his credit card. We don't now if they have a CD available but we would buy it if they did. One fine live act and that's a fact." Bluesbunny (July 2007)
