Anselmo Crew have been blending their fizzy urban world music shake since 2002 in Hungary and abroad. The 9-piece commando infuses numerous continents' authentic sounds into today's urban dance music wilderness (hip-hop, salsa, d'n'b, dancehall etc.), from Latin-America to Turkey and Africa in a manner that sounds distinctively Anselmo Crew. Lyrics of ordinary, sarcastic situations and their musical cures are presented with an equally eclectic combination of languages. Fierce gigs turning into dance parties spell out their popularity from Kiev to Berlin.
PAST
While out on adventure in New Zealand, street performer Szabolcs Árkosi founded the band with Tamás Erdos, who had just flown from Asia. Tamás's late Italian grandfather donated the band name as well as the group's most prized relic, a ramshackle guitar from Italy, used to write their very first tune.
RELEASES
Following the 2004 release of the first LP 'Passport, Bitte...', musing on musical and geographical strolling, a 4-track EP arrived a year later. Appearances on a dozen compilations later, Putamayo, one of the most renowned world music labels with HQ in New York, chose a track to appear on Gipsy Groove for release in 56 countries. Second LP 'Urban Snacks', January 2008, includes dancefloor dynamite 'My Town' and 'Girling'.
