In a music scene diluted with hardcore, death metal, and hippie jam bands, Of Mountains is a breath of fresh air.
Of Mountains began in bassist Chris Lucia's living room when he began writing music with lead guitarist Alex Acuna. The two were local scene veterans, searching for the perfect combination of pop, rock, and indie that the Eugene music scene hadn't been witness to in years.
They quickly recruited drummer Bryce Hoeper, also a respected member of the local music scene. Bryce's steady and pounding rhythmic sensibilities were the perfect match for Alex and Chris' driving brand of pop rock.
In Josh Jerin, a longtime friend of Bryce, they were able to find the perfect person to set words to the music and take over vocal duties. Josh also assumed rhythm guitar duties, and the band was set in the early Winter of 2007.
Of Mountains boasts an energetic and entertaining live performance, playing several DIY shows in and around the Eugene area. In less than a year, they've accomplished more than what most bands will accomplish in a lifetime. Releasing their first six song EP in the late Summer of 2008, Of Mountains is poised to become a local and eventually regional and national regular in pop rock fans' playlists.
