About Me

The New album from G15, “An evening with G15 and the Monaco 808 Orchestra”, described as ”the sound of the Wu Tang Clan taking a taking a Riviera holiday with Henri Mancini”, is the latest release on the band’s own label, Squeaky records.Following on from the success of “G15 presents…Gent international”, the new album features G15’s trademark collision of old Moogs, 60’s soundtrack samples and breakbeats but this time with a tougher edge and the occasional electro flavour. The band’s sense of humour is still present, though perhaps a little drier this time. 808 drum machines and DX7 synths make guest appearances along side some classic 70’s rap interwoven with jazzy, saucy grooves. After “G15 Presents…” and some remixes for Acid Jazz, G15 took a sabbatical and went back to their first love: DJing. It was here that the new tracks were road tested and honed to perfection, especially while touring and DJing, in the band’s beloved Italy. “Many of our influences come from Italian film scores of the 60’s and 70’s. Composers like Bruno Nicolai or Roberto Pregadio and of course Ennio Morricone so it felt like an obvious move to go to Italy and play the bars and clubs there while working on a new album”.While in Rome the band became huge on Italian radio – particularly on RAI’s Ultrasuoni Cocktail. “ The appetite for the new tunes was amazing; test pressings of new tracks would be on the air the day after we finished them”. Things came to a head when an demo of the new album was reviewed in as one of the 10 best albums of the year in the newspaper Il Manefesto before they had even finished the final mix. “That’s when we knew we had to come home and finish it”.
