Former Flat Earth guitarists Oliver Bruemmer and Steffen K. had the lets-start-another-band chat late one night in Spring 2004. After a search lasting nearly half a year not to mention plenty more wild nights in Berlin-Kreuzberg and Berlin-Mitte the Cobra Jet line up was finally in place: Steffen and Oliver on guitar and lead vocals, Philipp Weber-Diefenbach on lead guitar (formerly Ultimate Warning, Mercedes Wong), Holger Hammel on bass (formerly 3rd Statement, BFDM) and Hermann Lamboy on drums (formerly Mad Sin, Chuch Of Confidence, Blechreiz).
A couple of months later the first Cobra Jet show sold out at the Pirate Cove club, an intimate and atmospheric live venue long part of the Berlin scene, which that night just happened to get rocked to pieces! Ever since, the five Berlin lads have been kept busy meeting the outrageous demands of a rapidly growing and devoted fan base with energetic performances at local venues such as Wild At Heart, White Trash, Kesselhaus Kulturbrauerei, Razzle Dazzle, Rosis, Silverwings, Kato, Fète de la music, and Waschhaus Potsdam. The boys have also managed to squeeze in some well-received gigs further abroad in Frankfurt, Oder, Braunschweig and Hamburg.
With a progressive style that creatively blends hard-rock genres from the last three decades, the band produces music with explosive energy and a fresh modern sound. (Think bright whip-like harmoniesdriving drums and bass with 70s punk attitudethrow in some grunge and hardcore influences....plus three polished in-your-face guitars keeping it smooth. (Get the picture?). In the end, it all comes down to the unique sound of Cobra Jet.
In summer 2006 Cobra Jet recorded their first full-length album "Corazon City" supported by engineer and co-producer Thomas Maringer, who had already worked for bands like Kante and Tocotonic. The new material has been released on the bands own new label Merchandise Wonderland Records. After the recording sessions Niklas Cordes (Steady State, Leo) joined the band as the new drummer.
Stay tuned and rock on!
