I'm a native Southern Californian, baby-boomer currently living in Juneau, Alaska for 25 yrs. I have family living here, and that's why I came up, initially for a summer vacation back in 1982. Decided I might want to move to Alaska, so I did in 1983. Met my future husband in '84, he was a commercial fisherman. And as they say, the rest is history.... It took me a while to get used to the weather and social climate of Juneau, which is a small town, than where I had been used to living in San Diego, before that Hollywood, Calif., where I was born and grew up. I, too was a Groupie in my younger years, and frequented the Sunset Strip and the Whisky, Rainbow Bar & Grill, the Roxy, Rodney Bingenheimer's English Disco, E Club, Starwood, Gazzari's, the Troubadour, Granny Takes a Trip English Clothing store, Fred Slatten Shoes (was the most Fabulous shoe store in the world specializing in 5" rhinestone platforms & snakeskin shoes), Tower Records (now defunct)and many other groovy places that used to be up on the Strip. Of course we can't forget the infamous "Riot House" where the English bands used to stay. My favorite band was the Kinks, and they stayed there quite a bit. I remember a pool party on the penthouse floor for the Kinks, given by their record company. It was really a gas! Also, remember seeing Led Zeppelin in the coffee shop restaurant, right off the ground floor lobby. Girls wanted to get in, but they had it roped off, as it was a private party. Ah...those were pretty amazing times I'll never forget! Who knew that we'd be making history, and the culture of our generation would be admired and popular today.I am a fine artist, working in various media, including acrylics, oils, water colours, pastels, charcoal, graphite, and mixed media. I have been in countless group shows, and a few solo shows here in Juneau. I am also a singer, and have sung at the Alaska Folk Festival, JAHC, Concerts in the Park, and at Karaoke.Upcoming Plans and Goals include my own Artist Webpage, more art projects, shows, and possibly a singing duet, engagement with a local friend/musician at various nightclubs in Juneau. All Artwork Copyright(c)2009 - Diva T.
