I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a native Long Islander, happily transplanted to Western Carolina. My family of origin have all relocated here, (well, Randi has moved to Eastern Tennessee, but close), and my 2 sons (Jasper and "Following Thoughts") are out West, in Idaho and Texas. I think it's safe to say I belong here. This place agrees with me. I've been selling home furnishings for a living, for over a year. I think it's been a case of picking the right job at the worst possible time, with the economy in recession. Currently unemployed, I think I'm going to take a short respite before launching myself into a new career, possibly in banking.I rent a house in W. Asheville, which I'm slowly fixing up. Sometimes I rope other people in to help with that, either paying them or enticing them with Eggplant Parmesan. It's coming along. I share this house with various male housemates, I have two of them now. Communal living is interesting.Jasper and Sebastian were here in June '08 for a week long visit, and we had such fun! It was everything I wanted it to be, and more. There are pics in my folder, from this visit. Check it out. Just wanna say that life keeps rolling along and I'm trying to roll along with it in a Zen sort of a way. Trying to find my proper place. But I'm reverent and honored to have this opportunity, to live life. Hope you're all reverent too. Peace.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

A wiser and gentler version of myself. Here's a link to a wonderful test. http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-quick-painless-enneagram-te stTake it! It's very revealing. .. I'll post my result below.

4- the Individualist Your Enneagram type is FOUR (aka "The Romantic")

"I am unique"

Romantics have sensitive feelings and are warm and perceptive.

How to Get Along with Me

Give me plenty of compliments. They mean a lot to me. Be a supportive friend or partner. Help me to learn to love and value myself. Respect me for my special gifts of intuition and vision. Though I don't always want to be cheered up when I'm feeling melancholy, I sometimes like to have someone lighten me up a little. Don't tell me I'm too sensitive or that I'm overreacting!

What I Like About Being a FOUR

my ability to find meaning in life and to experience feeling at a deep level my ability to establish warm connections with people admiring what is noble, truthful, and beautiful in life my creativity, intuition, and sense of humor being unique and being seen as unique by others having aesthetic sensibilities being able to easily pick up the feelings of people around me

What's Hard About Being a FOUR

experiencing dark moods of emptiness and despair feelings of self-hatred and shame; believing I don't deserve to be lovedfeeling guilty when I disappoint people feeling hurt or attacked when someone misundertands me expecting too much from myself and life fearing being abandonedobsessing over resentments longing for what I don't have

FOURs as Children Often

have active imaginations: play creatively alone or organize playmates in original games are very sensitive feel that they don't fit in believe they are missing something that other people haveattach themselves to idealized teachers, heroes, artists, etc. become antiauthoritarian or rebellious when criticized or not understoodfeel lonely or abandoned (perhaps as a result of a death or their parents' divorce)

FOURs as Parents

help their children become who they really are support their children's creativity and originality are good at helping their children get in touch with their feelingsare sometimes overly critical or overly protective are usually very good with children if not too self-absorbed
