Henry Marks - vocals, keys, harmonicas, programming
Simon Park - guitars, percussion/drums
Rupert Mackintosh - guitars, vocals and violinWith qualities likened to Crowded House and Simon & Garfunkel, Mon Ami is a fusion of folk and rock, intertwined around drifting vocal melodies, harmonicas and quirky guitar rhythms, softened by warm piano, vocal harmonies and searing fiddle lines.Mon Ami started in 2004 as Henry Marks and Simon Park - two individuals from Wellington who combined to further a unique sound nurtured over the past ten years. 2005 saw the addition of Rupert Mackintosh to the band, bringing additional guitar, vocal harmonies and searing fiddle lines to the Mon Ami sound.During 2004, Henry and Si recorded the Mon Ami demo with a single microphone in a modest seaside studio in Lyall Bay, Wellington. From that demo, their first single for b-Net radio, About These Things, spent seven weeks in Radio Active’s Top 11, peaking at number one and continued its popularity by becoming the stations most played New Zealand track for all of 2004 – a significant achievement given its release late in the year.In May 2006, the band enjoyed the very well received release of their EP Extended Play. Excellent sales of this and a highly successful nationwide tour has spring boarded Mon Ami into public eye and placed them in a confident place to independently release their first studio album – Debut –¬ due out in October this year.Having shared the stage live with Greg Johnson, The Phoenix Foundation, Age Prior, Tommy, OdESSA, Elemeno P and Barnaby Weir’s Fly My Pretties, Mon Ami's live performances include appearances in Dunedin, Wanaka, Queenstown, Christchurch, Auckland and at Wellington’s Chow Cabaret, Bar Bodega, The San Francisco Bathhouse (formally Indigo), the 2005 Resonate Showcase (British Council NZ), the 2005 Wellington Showcase, the Island Bay Festival and TVNZ’s Good Morning show and Sport's Cafe.
Mon Ami will be celebrating the release of ‘Debut’ with another Nationwide tour through November and December which will again see them performing from the North to the South in what promises to be their most comprehensive tour to date.
