Titanic
Remembered
On 31 May 2006, the 95th anniversary of the launch of Titanic, the Belfast Titanic Society sailed to Number 3 slip at Harland and Wolff docks in Belfast. A whistle was blown at 12:15BST, followed by a minute's silence to remember the lives of those involved in her construction, and those who lost their lives on her maiden voyage.Later in 2006, a memorial to William Pirrie will be unveiled in the grounds of Belfast City HallThe Largest ship in the World...While in its day the Titanic was said to be "the largest ship in the world," the Titanic would be considered small if placed next to the ship that currently holds that title. The Knock Nevis is a Norwegian owned supertanker which measures 458 meters (1504 feet) in length and 69 m (226 ft) in width, making it (as of May, 2006) the largest ship in the world. The Knock Nevis is a Norwegian owned supertanker, formerly known as Seawise Giant, Happy Giant, and Jahre Viking. It is 458 meters (1504 feet) in length and 69 m (226 ft) in width, making it the largest ship in the world. It was built between 1979 and 1981, damaged during the Iran-Iraq War, and refloated in 1991.Knock Nevis was built at Sumitomo Corporation's Oppama shipyard in Japan for a Greek owner who refused to take delivery of the vessel due to extensive vibration issues related to faulty gear design. Following an unsuccessful arbitration against the yard, the vessel was sold to Chinese interests. The unfinished ship was bought by a Hong Kong shipping magnate Tung Chao Yung (shipping line OOCL) who had her extended by several meters, thus increasing her load-carrying capacity and making her the largest ship ever built. The ship was finally floated two years later and named Seawise Giant. This is a pun on the name of the owner, who abbreviates his name as C. Y. Tung. Tung Chao Yung experienced significant financial difficulties as a result of the lengthening and was eventually supported through excellent contacts with the mainland Chinese Government. At first, she operated between the Middle East and the USA but from about 1986 she was used as a floating storage ship and transhipment terminal in Iran during the Iran-Iraq War. In May, 1988, the ship was attacked and heavily damaged by bombs dropped from Iraqi jets while lying at the Iranian Hormuz terminal in the Strait of Hormuz. At the end of the Iran-Iraq War in late 1989, the wreck (which had by then been towed to Brunei) was bought by a Norwegian limited liability partnership ("KS-company") managed by Norman International. They had the wreck repaired by the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore, and renamed Happy Giant. However in 1991, before the repairs were completed, the KS-company became managed by Norwegian shipping company Jørgen Jahre, and the vessel was delivered from Keppel Shipyard as the Jahre Viking. During the late 1990s, the majority of the KS-company was bought by Norwegian shipowner Fred Olsen through his company First Olsen Tankers. In March 2004, the ship was sent by her new owner, Fred. Olsen Production a.s (FOP), wholly owned subsidiary of First Olsen Tankers, to the shipyard Dubai Drydocks to be refitted as a floating storage and offloading unit ("FSO") [1]. There, she was given her current name, Knock Nevis. The ship is now permanently moored in the Qatar Al Shaheen oil field in the Gulf of Arabia, operating as a FSO.

About
Me
Hello my name is Charles. I'm 20 years of age. I'm from New Orleans.Yes the Titanic man is back home. I'm lightskinned with braids. 6'0 165lbs. They call me Mr. Titanic because I know just ABOUT everything there is to know about the ship. I'm also know for building large model ships. I've been studying Titanic for over 10 years. I started drawing the ship back in 6th grade and then when I was in 8th grade I had a huge plan to build a huge 50 ft model of Titanic, but I never completed it cause I had to move. When I turned 17 I built 3 boats. They were Titanic, Olympic and Britannic models. These boats participated in the Social Studies fair and came second place because I did'nt have my research paper. then in the next few months the regional fair took place but the day before the regional fair my boats were damaged. So I sat up all night trying to fix all three of them. By 7am the next morning I finished one of them but I ran out of paper. I had to be there at 8am so I had to give up....and I did. So in 2005 I decided to build 3 new models. These would be the biggest ones I've ever made. Close to 5 feet in length and close to 2 feet tall, they were indeed the biggest I've ever made. They did'nt participate in the Social Studies fair because the did not have it dat year. So I decided to use them in my research paper for English 4. They were a great success. I kept them at my school all three of them in different classes. They stayed there all the way until after I graduated. Once I graduated I took the 3 boats home and worked on them a lil bit more. I wanted to upgrade them so they can last longer. When August 27 came I had just finished working on my Titanic boat and I had to do the britannic and Olympic. Once Katrina hit I was soo worried about my boats. I was wondering whether if they had survived intact or not. Once I got home all three of them were smashed and almost torn apart on my bed. I was completely devastated about what had happened. In 2006 I decided to retire on building model boats because I just missed my other boats soo much. Soo in March 2006 I decided to build and new trend of boats. These boats would be at least 2 times the length and width and height of my other boats and they would be built much different and have a much stronger support than my other boats.I only was able to build 1 of the 3 and when it was completed it was clear that these were fairly larger. The Titanic was completed on June 12, 2006 and work on my next model ship started in July 2006. I started on it but never finished it because I had to move back to New Orleans. So the fate of the completed model titanic was decided. She was cut in half and kept in storage. It is still in storage and will be coming out for a complete upgrade with electronics. Once complete the ship will have her own power and soon will have the power to move in water. I come from an hispanic origin. I'm a very cool person. I like to go out sometimes and chill. I like going to the movies, playing video games, cooking, building model boats espically Titanic models.
