Charlton Hill's debut album 'WATERLINE' was recorded in London after a solid musical upbringing of Australian acoustic rock and a healthy love for the classic British balladeers.Produced by Ian Grimble (David Gray, Travis, Morcheeba), 'WATERLINE' encompasses Charlton's experiences whilst travelling having left his much loved east coast, leading us through tales of discovery and snapshots of the heart with his unique voice and close band of friends.Charlton recorded an acoustic EP on his homecoming to Sydney to capture the raw essence of his sentiments. It features four songs from his debut album 'WATERLINE' and a bonus track 'Soulship' he wrote for the occasion. Both the album and the EP can be found in a special addition release. As a departure from his traditonal musical roots, Charlton then collaborated and performed with electromaster 'Taurine' on a refreshing track 'Full Moon Rises'. It can be found on Taurine's debut album, 'Volume One' (Ministry of Sound).Charlton has only recently crawled out of the studio after completing tracks for his follow up album. Bringing together the best of musicianship and mateship, Charlton escaped with long time comrades: Adelaide's Tim Hartwig on guitar and Ryan Van Gennip on bass as well as newcomer and one time ping pong champ Jared Kneale on drums. The ever-naughty Lachlan Doley dropped by for keys and Sandrine for some sultry vocals. At the helm was emotive and spontaneous producer David Skeet, Charlton's first choice. "I wanted this album to be a testimony to the fact that everyday we get in the way of how things are meant to be. And, if you just let go and accept the outcome, that's a pure moment, that's your true fate. David was the perfect catalyst for my experiment!"Many of the tracks were written in the weeks leading up to the recording, Charlton having scrapped a bucketload of contenders. "I've always heard stories of songwriters tossing out a whole album of songs to go back to the drawing board. I finally realised why, it's like shaving your head! It's so liberating to let go of the past, say I want to file away my life's lessons to date, that 'me' then is not the 'me' now and I'm moving on."Charlton Hill and the Citizens will release the first single "AS LONG AS YOU CAN" from the new album "SMALL TRIUMPHS IN TRAFFIC" later this year with a clip shot by friend and rising stars Denson Baker ACS and Claire McCarthy.
