I am Sharky, and I roam the shallow waters. Dallasite by birth, resident by choice. I have played and hummed music as long as I can remember. In fact, I can remember humming the theme to the Six Million-Dollar Man while running slow-motion to the bathroom. Duh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh. I guess it's in my blood...my pop is a composer, Barbershop Quartet vocalist and all around talented guy and my Mom can carry a sweet tune herself. My mom hails from Algiers, which is a section of New Orleans. My dad is also a Dallas native. He has uncovered that the Thornton's hail from royalty somewhere down the line. I am still waiting on my "royalties." I am also supposedly a distant cousin of General Patton, which I still have not decided whether or not I am proud of. So I have a little Scottish, English, and Creole and Patton in my blood. That bascially means I am an American mutt with a strong urge to drink and smoke the occcasional cigar.Concerning my musical abilities, I can site read, but I prefer to play by ear, it is much faster for me. Music is a lot of fun, it seems to always be playing in my head in the background while I do other things. I am interested in possible musical projects that are funk, soul and rock-oriented. Influences are Hendrix, Parliament, Funkadelic, Sly and the Family Stone, Brand New Heavies (newly reformed), BDM, SRV, Rage, Chili Peppers, Toadies, John Coltrane, Marivn Gaye, Stones, Beatles....and all other good shit. You know who you are!I am married to Lisa, wife for 8 years, soulmate for 12. I have 2 very polarizing boys. Samson is a smart, yet obsessive young man. He is very intelligent and the most loyal, faithful friend you could ever have. Jackson is my younger, yet much more intense lad. Jackson is very talented, yet very peculiar. He quotes the oddest phrases he has heard on tv or elsewhere. He makes up imaginary fantasy worlds all the time and he invites you in to his little dreamworld constantly. Jack has a smile for everyone and uses that to his advantage!Finally, I hope you like the slide show, mostly artwork by Joost Swarte, a Dutch artist. He is one of my favorites. Y'all keep jammin.
