About Me

I live in Nashville, TN with my wife Jody, my 2 dogs, Karma and Henry, my 2 cats, Lucy and Phoebe, and our newest addition, our little boy Griffin.I grew up in Atlanta, GA. I moved to Nashville, TN in 2004 after spending 5 years in Los Angeles as the lead singer in a band called Turtle Grove. We were an improvisational, jam-oriented, southern influenced group ala Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, but with songs more in the vein of the Wallflowers and Train. Actually, think about what would happen if you took Sheryl Crow, Counting Crows and the Black Crows and put them together. How's that? I grew up on Rock & Roll, but discovered Country shortly after moving from LA to Atlanta. I loved how lyric driven and honest the songs were and are. So I started looking for ways to improve my lryic writing, got into Country music and original songwriters like Darryl Scott, Steve Earle, John Hiatt. Got involved in NSAI down in Atlanta and started making trips to Nashville. Met Barbara Cloyd ("I Guess You Had To Be There") who invited me to participate in a play for publishers workshop that she was putting on. The more I came up to Nashville, the more I knew I had to be here. I'll never forget what my wife said to me after coming home from my last trip. I was telling her about all the people I met and how much they all seemed to really like my stuff. I was excited talking a mile a minute, and she cut me off by saying, "We're moving to Nashville aren't we?"Not long after being here, and playing out at writers nights, I met Chris Oglesby, a veteren song-plugger and publisher, who had recently started his own company doing writer management. We began working together in the fall of 2004 and have been ever since.I have had many great opportunites and they seem to get better every day.If you like what you hear, I have a record called "Red Light Turns Green", and it's available at CD Baby and itunes. Thanks for checking in with me. Life is good.Peace,Scott
