Big thanks to everyone who has already asked about it and how to get one! A bunch are in the mail right now. I'll be setting up something easier soon, but if you want one, for 8.00 shipped anywhere in the world, email me at [email protected].
There will be lots of news and such concerning this CD in the coming weeks, keep an eye out, thanks everyone for your interest!
- I also play guitar and sing lead for a brand-new punk band, searching for a bass player right now, so that will happen soon.
- I also sing lead (one of two lead vocalists, m/f) and play rhythm guitar for the NYC 80's/new wave tribute band Atomic. If you like 80's new wave, this is the band for you as we perform nothing but 80's new wave hits. THE LATEST Live shows upcoming: The first two ATOMIC shows were great successes, and there are more being worked out right now, one of which is included below. We do all your fave 80's new wave hits, so come down! Also, my new original band will be playing out sometime soon, details to follow.
ATOMIC shows a success: I am glad to say my first two shows with the band I recently joined, NYC's top 80's/new wave tribute, ATOMIC, were a rousing success! The first show was in Queens and the place was packed, and the second was an outdoor private party on Long Island with wall-to-wall (or fence-to-fence as it was outdoors) people. There are some new up-close stage shots in the pics section. I look forward to many more great shows with this incredible band!
New Wave: Atomic I am glad to announce I am now singing with the great NYC 80's new wave tribute band, Atomic. They have a female singer, I join as the male lead, and will also be doing some rhythm guitar. We'll be playing soon, all your favorite 80's new wave hits by groups like DEVO, Blondie, and much more, and I look very forward to playing with this very talented band and getting back on stage! Forward for book: For my upcoming book, The Network Interviews (not totally mine, see right below) I am proud to say that none other than legendary New York City legend Joe Franklin has written a forward! For those who don't know, Joe has done over 300,000 interviews in his life, including everyone from Ronald Reagan, Frank Sinatra, Bill Cosby, to The Ramones (see blog above). Joe's forward is great and it is an honor to have such a legend be a part of this upcoming book. The book: With other things, some have asked me about my upcoming book - well it's not totally mine, but I do write the original present-day chapters. It's tentatively titled "The Network Interviews" and it's a collection of rarely-seen original music star interviews (over 50!) that appeared in the late 80's NYC music newspaper Network, started by Frank MacKay and Gordon MacKay, both of whom conducted most of the interviews. Just some of the interviews in this book are KISS, Metallica, Guns 'N Roses, Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, and so many more. It also covers the 80's rock music scene and much more, including great tales of Network meeting and hanging with the top rock stars of the day. The buzz generating in the scene for this book is already great, for some info check out the myspace page from my top friends list below.About Me: I was born a Gemini in Brooklyn NYC, and loved playing with my Matchbox cars, reading Marvel comic books, and watching Godzilla movies. Things I still do to this day! (I have the cars but don't play with them anymore.) Matter of fact, I'm an unabashed Godzilla expert.
Every time I had an extra 35 cents to spare, I'd go buy some new Marvel Comics. The Fantastic Four were my favorite. I'd also build Monogram model kits, and I can still smell the Testors glue I used to build the models, mmm. (Of course it wasn't fun when it got all over my hands, clothes and furniture.) Then one day, music became important quickly after watching "A Hard Day's Night" on channel 5 New York City. I thought The Beatles were incredible, and all the girls screaming so long (over these great songs) fascinated me to no end. Soon after, I then discovered The Ramones at a very young age, as well as black hair dye. The Buzzcocks, Undertones, NY Dolls and Blondie all followed and helped form my musical tastes. Another fateful day, I discovered KISS, and my musical backround was complete. Then I finally picked up a guitar, and taught myself how to play by playing along to Beatles songs until I got it down. I even started singing songs too.
I learned how to play, and sing. Not content to simply play an instrument on stage, I was determined to be a performer, not just another musician on some stage. After playing in various bands (I've done so many shows over the years I lost count many years ago), The Beauty School Dropouts was formed and we have had an on-off playing history for many years, gathering quite the reputation in the New York City punk scene. After a brief reunion in June '07 where BSD performed to thousands in Coney Island, Brooklyn after the annual Mermaid Parade in the biggest show in our history, we broke up for good. I am now ready to release my own CD, Get Down Dress Up and working on a new original band project. Various On Myself: I'm a Brooklyn-born Italian, and a NYC resident. I was born and raised in Brooklyn but I do not speak like Rocky (yes I know he is from Philly, but still)...politically I'm Independent but I am a proud moral conservative. I'm a cat lover, coolest animals in the world! But I wish well for all animals. As one friend said, you can tell what kind of person someone is by the way they treat animals, it's true.
I speak proper English. My favorite movie stars are James Cagney and Godzilla. I love Star Wars, car chase movies, old sci-fi and horror, and Gamera. Even a chick flick or two. I'm a lifelong NY Rangers fan, I was there at MSG 6/14/94! That one "will last a lifetime." I'm a registered Independent, very political and always have been, but not preachy. I don't drink alcohol. I don't smoke. I don't take drugs. I never saw a single appeal to any of those three things whatsoever. I love life and take full advantage every day. I'm generally a very happy and healthy person :).
I love dancing all night to 80's new wave music. My endurance is through the roof (I will refrain from making an all-too-obvious joke) and my feet can certainly take a lot, I have no idea how. Maybe it has something to do with running all these years. I love running, it's my main form of exercise and I've been doing it forever. I'm even a member of the NY Road Runners, I know, how geeky. I do love to break out the bicycle as well. Between all the running and dancing, I put my poor feet through a lot. But I love to run. Run for my life!
Even though I've given up junk food for the most part, my favorite snack is still anything chocolate with orange juice. I love Mr. Softee shakes, but limit to about three per year! Cereal is my main thing. Special K is my fave, followed by Frankenberry, Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter (and regular), and Rice Chex. I picked up a guitar because of Johnny Ramone and Paul Stanley. I remember when Converses were six dollars. You bought them out of these huge bins in the supermarket. The bins are still there sometimes, but the Converses aren't. I still have my matchbox cars. I'm done countless shows, been to countless places and have had countless adventures. Much more to come! I salute all vets. God bless all the great men and women who have fought for my freedom, and for the freedom of the citizens of our great country, The United States of America. I've lived ten lifetimes, but life starts every morning. Faith is crucial. Every day above ground is a good day. I like to count my blessings. I stay away from negative people and negative influences, all they do is drag you down. Let unhappy people be unhappy on their own. I want to be buried in a KISS koffin. But not for a while...there's still a lot to do. But when I'm laying in there, I know I'll be smiling :).
