The beginning of this year (2007) started with a bang as i was assistant engineer on THE TWANG's debut singles, B-sides and album, recorded at MAGIC GARDEN in the midlands. These were six weeks of madness with the twang lads, great fun and a fine opportunity! I got my name into WIKIPEDIA too, an excellent bi-product eh! Very shortly after the twang packed up and shipped out in came SCOTT MATTHEWS! Scott had come to record the B-sides for his (just released) PASSING STRANGER single. We had a great time recording two fine examples of Scott's sonic armoury, HELPLESS ON THE SPOT and FOOTPRINTS FORGOTTEN. Really nice chilled acoustic-esque music and an effortless voice... keep it up mate! 2006 was rounded off by recording MIDAS's single: DON'T DANCE which charted in the top 100, a great result for a growing local indipendent record label. There are loads of other great bands on their way through now, including AFD SHIFT, a high energy rock/rap fusion so check them out soon... Also KILL JOHNNY ROCKSTAR, an evil sounding 4 piece metal band with a lady up front.. but dont be fooled by the tender frame, this girl can scream like Satan himself! Keep an ear-plugged ear out for the wall of sound that is HELLFIRE, great guys with some terrifying tunes.. check em all out!! ......................................I'd really like to thank GAVIN MONAGHAN at MAGIC GARDEN RECORDING STUDIO too for accepting me so readily as a member of the magic garden family, it's an awesome place to work and it's exposing me (finally) to the life i like, great people, great music, great bands... GREEEAAAT!!!............................................I've been working with a local dance companyto write and produce the soundtrack to upcoming show 'PRESSURE' by FLEXUS DANCE COMPANY. put together by choreographer KATIE DOWSON it's gonna be a great show... on soon at WOLVERHAMPTON ARENA THEATRE (and other venues up and down the country) so keep your eyes and ears open for this one! ..................................Last summer i worked with Pathogen, an emerging kick ass rock band from the area, these guys really kick out the tunes in a great way and soon their their debut EP will be available, upon which i have spun some samples and synths, GO AND CHECK THEM OUT!!!!..... PATHOGEN, they are in 'My Friends' now!!I am also starting to do recording sessions here at GruffStudio with local artists needing to get some of their music/words/whatever they want onto a disc for duplication and distribution, produced to the highest standards of my modest studio i will endeavour to make your stuff sound better than it already does, and judging by some of the local talent, that's a tall order!I encourage a relaxed writing/recording environment and am on permanent standby with teabags and kettle to help people achieve their best, although i understand that sometimes it takes more than a brew!Gareth R...... . . . I do it all! . . Sometimes with help from other professional sources. . . From brief to finished product and if you ask nicely i might even deliver it myself! . . . . . i'm originally a guitarist/songwriter playing for more than 11 years. I have toured the UK extensively in the last four years with a split personality band, half hi energy cabaret, and half rock'n'roll band.. both doing covers. . . . . . however, in the last nine years i have written many pieces of music for either large-scale stage production, or contemporary dance companies, even a piece for a dance school! . . . . . . . . i have a high creative output and am quite fussy when it comes to the quality of my work. . . . . . . . . I am now bringing my skills to the commercial market. I am available to write/produce music for your needs, be it a website, a performance/PA event, product launch, Dance show, TV/radio, Film/theatre or even a gift for a loved one, i can put what you want to say to music specifically written for the purpose. . . . .I can also lead music or drama based workshops to improve confidence/self-esteem and team building. . . . . . This can include location workshops in writing and recording music and song. . . after the session you can even take away a disc of your efforts!
