Resolute, the unsigned UK power rock band, are creating a buzz in the UK, by putting on their own shows around London, Sussex, Brighton and Newquay under the guise of Vaginal Slap presents...
Recently hailed as best newcomers on Bruce Dickinson’s BBC6 Rock Show with his personal recommendation as ones to watch for 2007. This was after the first 2 plays of the single Craving caused the producers inbox to be inundated with hundreds of requests. They have also been featured on Sick Radio and Total Rock Radio and are currently featured on the Saxon ‘on tour blog’ as band favourites. Resolute have just received notification that they are No1 in the Vodafone Music Unsigned Rock Bands.
The band recorded their debut EP, Titanium, with famed producer Teo Miller to be launched in the UK and Germany in 2007 via an independently procured distribution deal via AWOL on I tunes.
Likened to a cross between Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, with the charismatic Christelle Kelley being hailed as the female James Hetfield due to her commanding guitar and vocal talents. Dawn Rose, on drums, is at her best pounding out rhythms like a woman possessed. With The Sparginator (Craig) on bass and the addition of The Gushmeitster (OK, Stu) on guitar, the band will ignite any stage, any time.
“Full of Skunk Anansie-sh guitar-and-girl screaming, Resolute pull few punches with epic roller coasters to rawck out to. Christelle Kelley leads them out, axe in hand and delivering distinctive vocals strong enough to set them apart from the other Garbage-alikes. As a band, they call their music “energising hard rockâ€. Whatever. Tunes like Apathy and Craving are the musical Lucozade they are talking about, soaring big dippers with crashing crescendos that hit all the right rock buttons.†Charlotte Chambers, Camden New Journal, The Review - September 2006
“If you wanted to see the blueprint for a 21st Century rock trio, you would be well advised to check out Resolute. Guitarist/vocalist Christelle Kelley is clearly a woman with talent to burn, and her formidable personality is stamped all over songs like ‘Craving’ and ‘As I Am’. Backing vocals and crunching, no-nonsense basslines are provided by (now ex bass player) Paul Frainer, while punk veteran Dawn Rose has long been regarded as one of Britain’s finest female rock drummers. The four tracks on their ‘Titanium’ EP confidently straddle the gap between singer-songwriter introspection and heavy metal wrath, leaving no doubt that Resolute are a band worthy of investigation.†Pat Reid, UK music journalist, September 2006
"Like a visceral blend of 'Aenima' era Tool fronted by a gothic Grace Slick circa classic Airplane, 'Titanium' combines undulating post-grunge bass booms with an enticingly modern muscular rock groove" Claire Dowse, Kerrang!
