Mr Bongo started out as a specialist shop in 1989 handling South American music. With the growth in popularity of Brazilian music, championed by such characters as Giles Peterson in '89 & clubs such as Dingwalls, in the following years Mr Bongo started to establish itself as the leader & provider for whole scene. Since then the store has had a thriving Latin shop which has been complemented by a floor providing the best Hip Hop selection in the country as well as Jazz/Funk, house, disco and techno beats plus essentials from other leftfield genres.
