Born in Norfolk, raised in Chesapeake, and residing in Richmond, Wood Snipes is VAs best kept secret. This August Leo has produced tracks for many aspiring local and regional artists. Some of his works have lead to these artists signing recording deals with various independent labels.
It all started when Snipes (then MC Logic) and partner, Shawn Juan (then MC Spade), started rapping to instrumentals using 2 boom boxes. One stereo played the music aloud while the duo rapped into the open-air mic of the other. This awakened the innovative and competitive spirit that dwells within Snipes to take it to the next level. They called themselves Leaders of Society (L.O.S.) and recorded their first demo, Improvisions.
MC Logic soon evolved into a new persona and changed his moniker to Hollawood as MC Spade transformed into Shawn Juan DeMarco. These new alter egos re-invented their alliance and called it The Guilloteam or The G-Team for short. The group eventually grew to 5 members, Hollawood, Buddy Love, Shawn Juan, Copperfield The Cumulous, and MOTC (Monkey Out The Cage). The G-Team proceeded to record 4 stellar demo albums before disbanding as a music group though still remaining friends as brothers.
Now solo, Hollawood has evolved yet again, adding the name Snipes (short for Sniper) for the way he takes aim and hits his targeted audience with classic beats and entertaining lyrics. His personal discography includes The Woodworks (2000), The Streets of Nicewood Soundtrack (2002), True Hollawood Story (2006), and Hollawood Walk Of Game (2007).
