So long Ms. B, Welcome Back YOLANDA!

You got me twisted....You must not know 'bout me

About Me

I'm GREAT!! What else is there to say?Hello MySpace..... let's start with the basics: As you can see my name is Yolanda.... I am from Baltimore, MD (not a bad place, I promise you). I left Baltimore for a short while to attend Howard University (aahhh HU), and like a typical HU alum, I will sing its praises all the day long:) I majored in Mathematics (there's a big brain in that big head:)) and now I'm back home teaching 7th grade math in Baltimore City. This is the most challenging yet rewarding job in the world!!! I have a deep appreciation for all teachers.... it is so CRAZY. But I do love my kids... they never cease to amaze me:)____________________________________________________

My Interests

Empowering young Black minds. Check me out on Nightline...seriously www.abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=2607274

I'd like to meet:

I already know these folks... they are those near and dear to me. HUGE SHOUTS to the many loves of my life.....

Create Your Own!

Music:

I am a huge fan of live music! Something about percussion drives me insane!! Basically, I'd call myself a R & B junkie, but I pretty much love anything with a hot beat. Once again.... it's all about the percussion.

Movies:

Favorite movie of all time...... don't laugh.... "Lady and the Tramp"! For some strange reason, I can relate to that movie. But I don't even have enough space to get into that. Close runner up would definitely have to be "The Five Heartbeats." Poor Eddie Kane, at least he got his life right at the end though....

Television:

Reality shows have taken over the damn world!

Books:

I'm a teacher, but actually not a fan of reading... sorry to disappoint.

Heroes:

My heroes are those who inspire me to achieve greatness. Those who have built my drive to accomplish my goals while I'm here on Earth. No day is promised and those who have left me push me harder to get things done.Annie C. Barber - my maternal grandmother. Joseph W. Barber - my maternal grandfather. Keon T. White - my cousin and friend. These people are my angels and my heroes. I'm determined to make them proud.

Waiting to Exhale Moments

Although my current mood is "cranky", it has nothing to do with the topic of this blog.  My crankiness is due to frustration due to finances, house hunting, teaching, etc..... but that's another ...
