Paul H. Vergeer (a.k.a DJ PolyVinyl) comes from London ON but is now based in Guelph ON. He is currently attending the University of Guelph, studying Philosophy and Music.PolyVinyl's exposure to music came early in his life, attending various music schools and always keeping in tune with different musical styles growing up. Playing with many local bands throughout his teen years, Paul learned to appreciate many different styles of music and to keep his ears open to new and innovative artists. Eventually his appreciation for all musical styles (not to mention a very diverse personal music collection) pulled him into DJ culture. Being an active member of the London independent music scene and the hip hop culture already, PolyVinyl began to build his vinyl collection and stay in tune with the local scene. His love for hip hop and devotion to music eventually led PolyVinyl to promotion, working for such companies as REMG and starting his own company, DAP Promotions. Paul also plays in the hip hop/funk/blues collective The Fountain Street Blues Project (www.myspace.com/fountainstbluesproject), adding the bass grooves to the funky 7-piece band. Whether it is promoting local event, aiding independent artists, organizing open mic/battles, creating flyers, playing at local open jam nights, writing songs or just playing with his turntables, DJ PolyVinyl has done it all - and will continue to keep going so long as the people need music. You can catch DJ PolyVinyl every Saturday at Van Gogh's Ear (Guelph, ON), spinning classic 90's hip hop, funk, old skool and soul. He is also planning to tour this summer alongside his band.
