I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a mix of nationalities, languages, ideologies, ambitions, class loyalties, 'tribal' affiliations, and interactive styles. Just call me 'Sybil'....I'm also a bit obsessive - about maps, spelling & punctuation, and all kinds of trivia.

My Interests

Travel (especially train travel), Bay Area labor activism, progressive/radical politics, 20th century design & culture, music for dancing and/or thinking, regional & international cuisine, sophisticated comedy, art gallery hopping.

I'd like to meet:

Folks with some creativity, unorthodoxy, & intelligence to share - maybe with a little humility and humor to season the mix, and spontaneous salsa dancing is always encouraged.... I'm also quite fond of polyglots, and have generally avoided risk/adrenaline junkies.

Music:

20th cent. classical (Barber, Copland, Part, Reich, Rorem, Szymanowski, Vaughn Williams), salsa, jazz, + James Taylor, Manu Chao, Ozomatli, English Beat, Tori Amos, Roberta Flack, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Kate Bush, Camel, Focus, Michael Hedges, Stanley Clarke, Luther Vandross, Mahavishnu Orchestra, early Chicago

Movies:

The Grey Fox, Duck Soup, A Hard Day's Night, Mephisto, Animal House, Life of Brian, The Lives of Others

Television:

CSI [but only in Vegas, bay-bie!], almost any travel, cooking, science, or home repair show on PBS

Books:

Art or architecture or language or railroad/train or automobile reference books of almost any stripe, pop-up books, books about making pop-up books, American Fried, Metropolitan Life, Doctor Faustus

Heroes:

Miss Manners, and "Get Fuzzy" resident half-breed dog, Satchel
