I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Whatever - nobody reads this anyway. If you're really wondering, feel free to ask. I probably will answer.

Anyway. Married. One cat, one dog, no kids. I do stuff. But only sometimes. Read a lot. Sometimes I take naps. Yay naps. Snarky, cranky, often mouthy and obviously, when the need arises, whiny. Quite boring most of the time, really. Want to make something of it?

Also, feel free to de-lurk, if you're lurking - I don't bite unless asked. Honest.

My Interests

Reading, World War 2 history, shopping, cats, traveling, writing, computers, journals, cold weather, napping, fleece blankets, house-related stuffs, remodeling, crafting, painting, not having to do laundry, shiny things, tv, history, veronica mars, my pets, traveling, learning languages, trying new foods, cooking, not being domestic, sweaters.

I'd like to meet:

Smart people. Funny people. Interesting people. Real people. People from way back in the day.

Music:

I like music. Doesn't matter much what it is. Not a rap fan. Not a closet Michael Bolton or Celine Dion fan, either.

Hey look - a current list of my favorite songs - 25 of them, in fact:

Faithfully - Journey

Possession - Sarah McLachlan

Closer - NIN

#41 - DMB

Let Go - Frou Frou

Southern Cross - CSN

Father Lucifer - Tori Amos

Lullaby - The Cure

Red Rain - Peter Gabriel

Another Song About the Rain - Cracker

Breathe Me - Sia

Gypsy - Fleetwood Mac

Urgent - Foreigner

Sooner or Later - Breaking Benjamin

Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones

The Kill - 30 Seconds to Mars

Realize - Colbie Caillat

The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove - Dead Can Dance

Lebanese Blonde - Thievery Corporation

I Am In Love With You - Imogen Heap

World in my Eyes - Depeche Mode

Cities in Dust - Siouxsie and the Banshees

#1 Crush - Garbage

The Way You Are - 46bliss

Movies:

The Breakfast Club, Lost in Translation, Amelie, Sixteen Candles, Bull Durham, Pretty in Pink, Major League, Some Kind of Wonderful, A Clockwork Orange, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, The Harry Potter movies, the LOTR movies, Gone with the Wind, Valley Girl, The Mexican, Real Genius, Clueless, lots of Alfred Hitchcock... Normally I just fall asleep during movies, though.

Television:

Veronica Mars, Trading Spaces, Mythbusters, Clean Sweep, Keen Eddie (dammit - this was a great show!), Iron Chef, Good Eats, Homicide: Life on the Street, Ed, Scrubs, My Name is Earl, Viva La Bam (shut up), Dirty Jobs, Ugly Betty, Burn Notice, Psych, Monk, So You Think You Can Dance, most anything in TLC, Discovery, the History Channel or Food TV.

Books:

Um...

I like books. A lot. Basically, if you put it in front of me and it contains words, I'll read it. Milk cartons, TP wrappers, you name it. Usually have anywhere around 5 books in progress at any given time.

My all-time favorite series of books is the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich - funny, sassy and they have the only fictional character that I've ever had a mad crush on. Ranger... Fictional yum.

Other favorites: Gone With the Wind, Little Women, Charlaine Harris's Shakespeare series, Harry Potter, Katie MacAlister, well-written YA novels in general (where the hell was this stuff when I was growing up? Sweet Valley High was pure claptrap in comparison to what the kids have access to these days - yay for breaking out the YA mold!), Lousie Rennison and the Georgia Nicholson series, David Sedaris, and on and on and on.

Since January 1, 2007, have read 65 books (as of 11.16.07).

Presently reading a lot of Charlaine Harris - not the vampire series, though - can't get into those - and starting the Stephanie Meyer series that everybody has been going on and on about.
