My Interests

I love to run, walk, and hike. I love to read but am sick of reading textbooks. I like to travel, play games (especially Scrabble), and laugh. I like to spend time with my family, friends, and boyfriend (there is no hierarchy of importance here!).

I'd like to meet:

The committee who determined out-of-state tuition costs, Wally Lamb because he is an amazing writer, John Stewart for his wit, and Dr. Seuss for his creativity. Plus, I would love a helping of green eggs and ham.

Music:

I love oldies such as the Supremes, Temptations, Jackson 5, and the Shirelles. I think I am more of a song person than a band. I do love Tom Petty, Belle and Sebastian, Johnny Cash, Shins, and the Flaming Lips. I like a wide variety of music and am open to new tunes. My new favorite is Gnarls Barkley.

Movies:

Annie Hall is my all time favorite mooovie. I also like: Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, About a Boy, High Fidelity, Big Fish, and lots of others...

Television:

I love Nip/Tuck, Six Feet Under (which is no longer on), CSI, and Grey's Anatomy.

Books:

Too many to even mention...Dave Sedaris is my favorite author. I met him in Iowa City and he thought my brother and I were on a date (eww!). My favorite of his is "Me Talk Pretty One Day." A close second is Wally Lamb. My fav of his is "I know this much is true." I also love Chuck Palahniuk's "Lullabye." Ann Patchett is becoming another favorite such a "The Patron Saint of Liars." I also love survival stories such as Jon Krackhauer's "Into the Wild" and "Jungle" by Yossi Ghinsberg. Earlier this summer I finished "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" which has the most beautiful writing. I liked it even better than "The Secret Life of Bees." I have been told I have somewhat of a morbid curiosity and that wouldn't be complete without "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" by Mary Roach...definitely don't eat while you read...I just finished "Another day in the Frontal Lobe" which is very interesting and "The Wonder Spot" by Melissa Bank. Personally, I prefer her first novel "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing."

Heroes:

Diane Keaton because she has elegance and grace. My friend Erin for being deeply caring and sweet at all times. My brother Brendan for believing in himself enough to change for the better.
