About Me

-------THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO NASCAR DRIVER AND 2003 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES CHAMPION TRAVIS KVAPIL---------I AM NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH TRAVIS, NASCAR ,TIDE OR ANY OTHER SPONSER AN SO ON-----ENJOY THE PAGE-----Born and raised in Wisconsin, Travis Kvapil began dreaming of racing at a very early age. He loved speed and he loved to make black marks in the driveway with his bike tires. But most of all he loved to hang out in his dad's shop and at the local tracks, watching and learning about race cars. When he was 14 yrs old, he was hot lapping stock cars under the keen eyes of (his dad) Dick and Jim Pierson, who later became Travis's first mentor and crew chief. It was no coincidence that #35 was Jim's number before it was Travis's. When (his brother) Brian came home from the Persian Gulf, he was surprised at how the kid he used to intimidate was now towering over him and could reach the pedals of his own stock car. He and younger brother Dick Jr. would eventually join Travis's pit crew. The early days of racing were not easy even though it seemed to be raining trophies. Travis went to school, went to work, then worked on the race car nearly 24 - 7. Any thing earned or won went back into the race car. A trunk load of gratitude goes out to Dick and Jim for all the help and encouragement they willingly gave, to his wife Jennifer for always being there for him and for every race, and to all the family and friends that volunteered their weekends to be crew members, helping Travis to attain his goals. It was Travis though who drove his heart out earning awe and respect and the 'Most Popular Driver Award' at Madison International Speedway and for two consecutive years on TruckSeries.com. And he remains the laid back, easy going kid from Wisconsin, transplanted to North Carolina. He mows the lawn, visits with neighbors in the driveway and helps out at daughter Kelsey's tee ball games. But racing is more than just living his dream, its his business and he takes it very seriously. He continues to set his goals and give whatever it takes to achieve them. The first two years in the Craftsman Truck Series with Addington Racing turned in 2 wins, 21- top five finishes, 32 - top ten finishes, Rookie of the Year Honors, a fourth and a ninth place points finish, and back-to-back TruckSeries.com Most Popular Driver Award. 2003 will see Travis driving the #16 IWX Motor Freight Chevrolet for the reigning championship team. With this winning combination we can look forward to a very exciting and successful future. Maureen (Travis's mom) and I spent hours going through old pictures so I could put together the following visual timeline and collage that looks back on Travis Kvapil life and race history.
