About Me

It began with a PS1 and a copy of Music 2000 back in 1998. Late nights up until 5am obsessively toying with tiny coloured squares to make music which at best sounded mediocre. I used to dream what I could do if one day, when I grew up, I might get to have a go in a real studio....
In the 10 years since the technology has changed, the world has changed, the club-scene has changed, even the world-conquering Gatecrasher has now burned to the ground, when 10 years ago the adventure was all just about to begin.
For some of us, trance has been an obsession now over half my lifetime long, and I'm not exactly the youngest guy in the world! From the very first time I heard the sound of an electronic synthesizer I was in love. I rate the synthesizer as the greatest invention of the 20th Century, a century that brought us toasters, jet engines, hydrogen bombs, and took us the moon.
1998 and 1999 was for most the period of time that trance took over the world, that a 100 year old former warehouse in Sheffield became the centre of the universe. For me it was the birth of an entire new way of life, but it was also the birth of my first experiments with music production.
Trance has declined since then in its' overall popularity, has tried taking many different directions in many different ways. There's even a whole multitude of people out there who seem to think that trance was something that happened in 1999 as if it all just vanished at the end of the century like the millennium bug or something. But the popularity of trance has never been the issue, which is just one of the things about it I love so much. Trance is simply about the emotional spirit of the music and nothing else, and it can equally transcend you both on a personal level or as one of many in a massive crowd.
This is why trance will never die. And so long as I'm still breathing the music will live on.
P.S. Some things do change though. Look what I get to play with now.... :)
