About Me

I realized that much of what I previously had in this section could be found in other areas of my profile: general, music, movies, televison, books, heroes, and "Mark's Details". So, read those sections of my profile. The only thing it leaves out is that I am HIV+.I want to use MySpace for networking. (See "Who I'd like to meet" below).And since I am a single gay man, the occassional contact from other single gay men interested in perhaps dating are also welcome.A brief resume of what I have done or am currently doing would include: membership in Dallas' gay and Lesbian synagogue, Beth El Binah, including two years as president; volunteer for the Names Project including two years as chair of the Dallas chapter until national closed it; voluteer for the AIDS Resource Center's social programs for HIV+ people until they cut back on staff and programs; and I had been a member of the Leather Knights, a leather fraternity dedicated to community service for those affected by HIV/AIDS but their president recently supported a ADA violation by an employee of the Eagle. PWAs have dignity and need to stand up for their rights. My newest effort is volunteering at Legacy Cottage, a hospice house for those dying of AIDS. I have told them that I want to visit on a regular basis, especially those who do not have visitors. I will listen, talk with them when they want me to, or just spend time with them to avoid their being alone.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Other people who share my interests or characterics. Some of us our alienated from our families or the community. I would like for us to network and share our feelings and thoughts: other Jews (especially gay men in DFW); other HIV+ men and women who occasionally need to talk to someone who know what they are going through; Fellow fans of Deborah Harry and Blondie; Fellow fans of Tennesee Williams; Single gay men in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area who are looking for a mature long term relationship and are tired of the games men play (read my series of blogs on Men are Pigs); and anyone else who is supportive of persons in these groups.Some people think that MySpace is some competition for who has the most friends. Do not send a friend request if we have nothing in common.
