DEXFACTOR DJ CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER 2008!!!Craig Dyson, aka Gloxxy, first started listening to Drum & Bass at the tender age of 16. Back in 1995, he was listening to happy hardcore tape packs from Helter Skelter, Vibealite and Dreamscape, which contained Drum & Bass tapes.After listening to DJ Hype tape from Helter Skelter's Voyager event at The Sanctuary, Milton Keynes he was hooked. Over the next 2 years Craig and his friends started attending raves all over the country following his favourite DJ's at the time, Hype, Randall, Jumpin' Jack Frost and Mickey Finn.Around the end of 1996 a friend purchased a set of Technics 1210's and Craig started to hone his mixing skills, practicing as often as possible, until the end of 1997 when his circle of friends changed and he no longer had the chance to use them trusty 1210's.Tape Packs were all Craig had to survive on through a 4 year period which shaped and moulded his Drum & Bass tastes to the Dark side. This is the period where he found his number 1 producer, Dom & Roland.Around late 2000, early 2001 a chance meeting with an old friend led Craig to buying all the decks, vinyl and equipment he had learned his skills on from his old friend.From then on he has been practicing, honing his mixing skills but never playing out to a crowd due to relationship commitments and the birth of his son mid way through 2003.Fast forward to October 2005 and his first gig at Café Ambience in Blackpool town centre, set up by Luke EP and Bassprovida. This set went down well with the people that attended and led to Craig joining the forum on ICHI Promotions, where he met lots of like-minded people trying to get recognition in the North West Drum & Bass Scene.With more time on his hands, the now single, Craig has started to secure sets in Liverpool, Preston, and Manchester, thanks to people like Matt Le Moore, B-52 & Sub Low and acquaintances through his brothers Hip Hop act, Primitive Form.The future looks bright for this Hardcore Junglist Soldier (27), so keep an eye on events in the North West to catch a glimpse of this lads smooth, seamless style of mixing, incorporating anything from Liquid to Dark Drum & Bass.
