Los Bonobos

About Me

LOS BONOBOS are a duo who fuse elements of French folk and funky bluesy guitar with cheeky lyrics. They are: Heike, eccentric Germanic by birth- and blessed with a special sense of humour- and Lionel, moody Frenchman (Breton, actually!) in charge of guitar. Heike arrived at singing via the theatre/ performance art route. Lionel used to tour with Blues and Gothic bands. Together they create mellow tunes with easy-on-the-eye costume changes (lots of those!), from tomboy to diva and beyond. Their lyrics focus on the ridiculous ("Haircut") with cheeky wordplay ("Lettuce Make Love") and some shameless ransacking of foreign tongues ("Beaujolais Blues", Sushi Lover). Oh, and there is always room for improvisation. Be prepared to be surprised. Feedback from recent gigs: "Fantastic... I haven't laughed like this in weeks..!"

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Heike F. -singer/songwriter, and Lionel P. guitarist/groove rider.
Influences: Heike says: Dunno.. animals mainly. Take their example: Each one has been given a noise to communiate with, and they just get on with it and stretch that as far as it will. If it's a grunt it's a grunt.. My palette lies somewhere between chirping and grunting. There you go. Musically I am still learning. If I had the choice I would probably want to write songs like Martyn Jacques from the Tiger Lillies. Over to you Lionel, you're going to have to provide our street cred here.. Lionel? Say something, quick..! (Any day now, folks, he's a do-er, not a talker.)
Sounds Like: they're having a lot of fun
Type of Label: Major
