Say goodbye to summer and hello to fall and the holidays!! I personally think we are going to be in for a horrible winter here in Eastern Kentucky. It is already so cold here in the mornings, evenings, and nights.Halloween is just a few weeks away. I love Halloween and it is my second favorite holiday, next to Christmas!! Ben and I can't decide what we want to dress up as, but hopefully something will come to us.My mom and I are getting ready to start decorating for Halloween and fall as well, and I am excited!! When it comes to decorating for the holidays, I am totally into it and ready to decorate away. After we finish decorating I'll take some pics and put them on here for everyone to see.Well Ben and I went on our summer vacation to Myrtle Beach NC. We spent a week there and had a great time!! The weather was perfect in August, and the ocean felt like bath water. We walked on the beach at night, caught some sun during the days, and shopped as well. We also went to a "Legends" show, which was great and we had never been before. For those of you that aren't familiar, Legends is a performance of impersonators. We also went to Dixie Stampede, which was ok, but I was disappointed and expected way too much I guess. I know I promised to post vacation pics, however, my digital camera card accidentally got erased before I downloaded the pics. So we have NO Myrtle Beach pics. :-(
Now for a little about myself. My name is Ann, I am 32, and from Eastern KY. I am currently Engaged to my wonderful fiance of 2 years and 5 months...Benjamin Dee Smith JR. I am currently training for a part time job working at an "Adult Day Care Facility," for the mentally challenged.
I have enjoyed spending my free time this summer with Ben going camping, fishing, swimming, dinners, movies, shopping etc. I am glad that fall is here, because that means the holidays are here as well. I often complain of how boring it is here in these mountains, however, they are gorgious during fall and winter.
If you want to check out my pics, you'll learn a little more about me and see some of my family and friends, and the happy occasions we have spent together. You will also see many pics of Ben and I, see how happy we look together, because it is indeed how happy we are together, and we look great together too! LOL :-)
I dislike this cold weather we are having, because I have arthritis, osteoporosis, and metal rods in my arms and legs, so cold weather tends to make me ache pretty bad. I have always been cold natured and enjoyed really warm temperatures.
As all of my friends and family know, I am a HUGE photos fan!! I have several pics to add to my collection, I just haven't taken the time to upload them yet. I will be updating and posting pics fairly often, so please come back and check them out. I am always in the process of working on changing things around on my page...because I get bored with it very quickly and easily. :-)
Now for a little about myself: I am in an electric mobile wheel chair due to the inability to walk from my genetic "brittle bone disease" that I have had since birth, known as Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or OI for short. I knew very few people, especially adults with my disease, however, thanks to having attended the OI National Conference in 2004 held in Dallas Texas with my best friend Kevin, I met a lot of really nice people. I try to keep up with some of them through email, but most of them I have found here on MySpace. I am always anxious to meet other OIer's in the future, and had hoped to be able to attend this year's National OI Conference in Washington DC that was held last weekend, however, I was unable to attend this year. I am looking forward to hopeful attending the next National OI conference in 2010. If you would like to read up on this disease check out this website: (http://www.oif.org)
I have been doing great overall health wise, and I hope to continue keeping it up. Six months ago I began a new drug called "Reclast," to help strengthen my bones, and to prevent them from becoming more dense thus easier to fracture and or break. Reclast is a treatment for Osteoporosis, that is a once a year infusion, however, there are current studies being conducted as to the affects it may have on my disease...so I chose to try the drug and see if I could benefit from it. I have posted my findings in my blog for those of you whom are interested, and I have also listed the Reclast official website where you or your physician can get information about the drug such as pros, cons, risks, side effects, as well as healthy tips to help prevent bone loss. The website is very informative, and you can even sign up to receive free information and brochures about the treatment itself.
I basically created this space and my blog for the soul purposes of making friends, keeping in touch with those whom live far away from me, meeting others with OI, and to share a little part of my life with friends and family far away. "I look forward to meeting those OIer's whom I have never met and talk to online! I hope everyone enjoys my MySpace page, and thanks for stopping by. All comments, questions, and suggestions are welcome, or feel free to drop me a message, email, or IM me." I am indeed an open book, so feel free to ask away...

A few years ago, I went to California to visit "Alvin," a best friend of mine that was stationed in the Army there. Well as you know from reading about me, I have a brittle bone disease "OI" that causes my bones to break easily. I have always had to be careful with myself. Well while in CA. Alvin, Kevin, and I decided to go to Disneyland. This was something I had wanted to do for many many years, so we went. There are very few rides that I can ride that wont jerk me or sling me and hurt me...therefore "roller coasters" have always been a BIG no no!! Alvin and Kevin found a smooth one for me to ride and aggravated me the entire day to ride it. Yes, peer pressure got the best of me, so I decided to ride it and face my fears.I rode the roller coaster one time only, hated it, needed a nerve pill afterwards, and became very religious while I rode the coaster. Alvin cam-corded the entire ride and posted it on YouTube. So I figure what the heck I'll stick it on my page for everyone to watch and laugh!! :-) LOL Enjoy the video!!
