About Me
Ublisch 1994-1998 R.I.PDue to spotty record keeping your just gonna have to trust me...Ublisch became an institution... Starting as a few friends practicing in my mom's garage, then practicing at tremont next to my printing equipment, and then ending as a group of friends (different friends of course) under the chinese food place (used to be milestone records and the video store) on central avenue... Ublisch churned out some members, but most important the purpose was for fun and for the rock...The name came from Gabby a german exchange student who be-friended bob bemis... she told bob this odd and fascinating childrens tale about an anti santa clause in germany that would beat up kids and steal toys. Sounds good to us... great idea for a band name... later she told us that she had told us the wrong name for the character, but it was too late I had printed a gazillion stickers by then. So the name stuck and the best answer I ever got from any germans was that without the c, ublisch could be sort of slang for common or familiar, like familiar with your neighborhood... Overall it is a good and unique band name and a great part of my life.We played lots of shows in North and South Carolina from the Cootie Hut, The Milestone, WEFest, Tremont, and many more... Released a 7" "Gimme Something I Can Blow Up", a CD "Kiss Off Honky", and had some songs on a comp CD called "Planet Rock" (where are you Chris McGee?)... (the comp songs were recorded by a dirty hippie and sounded like crap some of which was our playing, but most of it was from the dirty hippie)Bands we used to play with... My so called band, it could be nothing, draggin flowers, rent america, lodestar, assfactor 4, thumbnail, etc...All of our songs wer constructed by all of us from the heart, and all of the lyrics were based on real life anger, frustration, depression, and laughter... We used to name songs before we had lyrics for them... whatever random thought anyone had became the title... like "damn thats a big ufo" "Chicken Monkey" "Drunk Pirate" or even "lepracauns are people too"...Tthe best thing about the band was hanging out with the guys 2 nights a week, and creating music that if nothing else... it made us feel good whether anyone else liked it or not. We split up because I got too busy with work and it seemed to feel more like a chore than fun to be at practice. Thanks to all the people that liked us... and all the people that did not like us that were polite enough to not boo...heh heh! And to all the band members over the years that I do not see... I miss you all and hope you are well...SteveMunsell
