About Me

Formed in Guelph in 1991 King Cobb Steelie have released 5 albums and have toured nationally and internationally countless times.Their first album King Cobb Steelie was released on Raw Energy records in 1992 and was produced by Don Pyle (Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet, Phonocomb, Greek Buck), Their second album Project Twinkle produced by Bill Laswell (PlL, Fela Kuti, Herbie Hancock) was released on KCS’s own label, lunamoth, and earned them Juno nominations for Best Alternative Album and Best Album Art. The Mad Professor, Sasha Frere-Jones, Spectre and the Legion of Green Men completed remixes from Project Twinkle. The follow-up, Junior Relaxer, was released in 1997 on EMI records and was produced by Guy Fixsen (Laika, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive). Mr. Fixsen also co-produced (with the band) the 2000 release Mayday. Released in North America on Rykodisc and in Europe on Cooking Vinyl, Mayday was nominated for 2000’s Best Alternative Album Juno. Songs from the album are featured in HBO runaway hit series Six Feet Under, as well as Witchblade, and the Clement Virgo film Love Come Down. 2004 saw the release of Destroy All Codes, an almost entirely instrumental cd released on Outside Music.
