About Me

View Dan Holmes Group's EPK

“Holmes excels at New Orleans style jazz, introspective pop, psychobilly blues, and Talking Heads-ish shaggy-dog stories. Lyrically, (he) has a jarring style that careens from hokey to near-fantastic…often within a single song.”

- David Lidquist, The Indianapolis Star

“Dan’s pretty damn talented. He’s not attempting to be the same or emulate anyone. In every song he brings in something new. Where the hell did Dan Holmes come from?”

- Melodie & Harmonie, Nuvo Newsweekly

An Indianapolis native, Dan began playing professionally at the age of seventeen. While playing with several different bands, he also did voiceover work for Sunshine Promotions. It was his first studio experience that paved the way for his own studio, the Soup Kitchen. At the age of twenty four, he opened Music Station, a retail instrument shop, in Avon, Indiana. Months after its grand opening, Duke Tumatoe invited him to join The Power Trio, and begin touring the Midwest. After a year, it was time to start a new venture. Dan Holmes Group was born, and is one of the most sought after bands in the midwest. Dan still can be heard every Wednesday during football season on the nationaly syndicated Bob & Tom Show, performing with Duke Tumatoe.
