D. Black's journey into music started in Detroit Michigan where he was born to a single mother who had a passion for all types of music. His mother's influence become even more evident when in the 80's he developed a love for playing the piano. As a high-schooler, it was not un-common to find D.Black locked away in the band room to practice and compose his own music. In 1989, D.Black hooked up with with certain people who gave him his big break, allowing the opportunity to record a gold and platinum song. Although he didn't receive any credit, he certainly paid his dues and music has been reciprocating ever since. When asked what sets his music apart from others, he replies:I believe that my music is unique because I'm not stuck in just doing one style or genre. I can hit you with some bangin hiphop and the next track will be a smooth jazz song or some gospel but within each style I can bring it to you on different levelsThe music industry certainly agrees.D.Black has written and co/produced songs for artists such as Bob James, Boney James, Euge Groove, Shai, Brent Jones & the T.P. Mobb, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and Peter Andre. In 2000, D.Black wrote and produced the hit song "Wobble, Wobble", performed by the 504 Boyz. The song stayed ..1 on 3 different Billboard charts for 4 weeks. He's been more involved lately in Film & Television. But still finds time to stay "In" with the hip hop/ rap folk.He has also produced songs for hit movies such as The Brothers and Barbershop, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle. Not to mention, music for various MTV movies and productions such as Love Song (featuring Monica), as well music for the MTC hit TV shows: The Real World, The Simple Life, The Challenge & One Ocean View.Currently he's licensed 64 songs to appear in the 2006/2007 seasons of Ashton Kusher's / MTV'S PUNK'D Series.D.Black never forgets anyone around him often helping out continously those who seek to do music. Wethe that's rappin singin' or producing. His motto is "Give to those and God will bless you back" He tries to help everyone but often runs into too many people hitting him up at once. "I hate it that I can't help out more, so many great talented poeple out there who need to stay close to folks with integrity so they won't get taken advantage of and led down the wrong road. Plus no one is educating them on the real side of music: The Business side...I mean like copywritting, what a mechanical. How to know what your publishing is worth and about current statitory rates to get paid. There's a huge list that cats never learn then when they do it's too late or so much has been given away it's destructive to one's soul. But I Love to see people "make it" too much hating going on in this business, if one can make any money at all from this industry then you are definately on your way to making more and being in control of your cash for your retirement"Whether it's producing platinum hit songs or composing spirited music that renews the soul, D.Black has made his mark in the industry. With a renewed vision and passion for spreading the Good News, D.Black will certainly make his mark on mankind as well. D.Black is currently seeking continued employment with Dr. Dre or Timbaland or Jermaine Dupree as a staff producer. You can reach D.Black at
