As the son of a soul and funk singer Vigi spent most of his childhood hanging around recording studios whilst his mother laid down her vocals. This sonic Baptism has resulted in his lifelong love of music and above all his passion for dance music. After playing bass in bands at school, Vigi literally gave up all notions of traditional music overnight when he discovered Acid House. The next day he went straight out and bought himself a computer, a sampler and keyboard, and has never looked back.Vigi has been Dj’ing now for over 15 years and for the last 10 of those years has been releasing records through a whole host of labels including TCR, Marine Parade, sm:)e communications, M.C Projects, and his own label Streetwise Recordings.During this time he has held residencies at a number of clubs such as More Tea Vicar, Subsonic, Good Times, Motion and Boomslang which has found him regularly playing along side some of the biggest names in dance music including such as Bushwacka, Judge Jules Rampling and Tony de Vit, as well as the masters of the underground like Adam Freeland, Rennie Pilgrem, Meat Katie, Krafty Kuts, The Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors and The Freestylers. He alsoAnyone who has experienced his DJ sets over the years at clubs round the world, or seen the magic his tracks work on the dancefloor will be in no doubt that this man knows what it takes to get a party heaving. His special blend of psyho-active funk-fuelled breaks and beats have become favourites in the boxes of the biggest international DJs including Josh Wink, Timo Maas, the Plump DJs and Paul Oakenfold. Never content to sit on his laurels he is currently stacked up with tunes ready to release over the next year that are about to blow the scene apart once more.Since the summer of 2002, most of his time has been dedicated to starting up his label Streetwise recordings. His efforts to create one of the future giants of the dance scene have started to pay off nicely, as Streetwise Recordings were recently voted best new label in the 2004 Breakspoll awards. This event, presented by BBC Radio One legend Annie Nightingale, also saw the Rennie Pilgrem remix of their monster tune ‘Zer0 - Emit/Collect’ pick up an award for best remix of 2004.Vigi is no stranger to radio either having presented his own 2 hour weekly dance show on FM radio in the UK on Cambridge Red107.9 for over 18 months (no longer running) and has more recently presented 3 guest mixes to Annie Nightingales BBC radio one show.As both Boomslang and Streetwise go from strength to strength, you can expect to see this deck-nician causing a storm on a dancefloor near you very soon, . . . miss him at your peril. . . . . . . . . . . .
