About Me

I'm 31 years old, married to the most wonderful man in the world, am a Navy wife, have two adorable daughters, and am basically an all-around cool chick! I'm originally from Seattle, but have been living in Japan for the past two and a half years, with another year to go. Life is good, what else can I say?

My Interests

Cooking, knitting, travelling, hanging out with my friends, wasting insane amounts of time online, blogging, reading, shopping, entertaining, getting to know new people, finding new ways to overlook the ridiculous levels of suckiness of the Navy, singing karaoke, having crazy long debates with Brad in the middle of the night, playing with my kids, loving on Brad, getting overly competitive while playing silly board games, and just enjoying life in general.

Music:

Pretty much anything. I love country, pop, rock, alternative, oldies, you name it. Some current and perennial favorites are 3 Doors Down, Matchbox 20, The Killers, The Barenaked Ladies, Green Day, and I'm reviving my love for Bon Jovi after hearing a bazillion Japanese women sing their songs at karaoke bars.

Movies:

Anything with Christopher Guest (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, This is Spinal Tap, etc.). The man is a god! Also pretty much anything with Vince Vaughan and/or Owen Wilson. And 40-year-old Virgin made me laugh harder than anything ever has before. When I walked out of the theater my face hurt from laughing so hard. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Sound of Music, Snatch, Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite, Lost in Translation, and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle are some other much loved films.

Television:

The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Lost, 24, The Office, South Park, Arrested Development, Scrubs, What Not to Wear, and any of the "I Love the..." shows on VH-1.

Books:

I'm a shameless chick lit fan. Even though most of the books annoy me, I still love reding them. I love Sophie Kinsella, Meg Cabot and Nick Hornsby, among others. I also love John Grisham and Michael Crichton. Reading should be fun, that's my mantra. If I'm feeling particularly industrious, I'll read something by Stephen Ambrose and pretend I'm an intellectual.

Heroes:

Brad - because he's busted his ass every single day of his life, yet still comes home and treats me like a princess. He's my best friend and I couldn't ask for more in a husband (plus he's hot). Jon Stewart - because he's the funniest guy on TV. I always wish that we could hang out. He has got to be a blast to spend time with. And you can't help but love him after his appearance on Crossfire!
