About Me

Welcome To Winchester... formed in the spring of 2007 by a group of like-minded friends (who have never been to Winchester) with the goal of creating music that they were as passionate about and loved as much as the music of their heroes. Combining wide and numerous influences, their unique brand of Indie Rock is a far cry from the endless Post-Libertines mediocrity that is so present in today's music scene. Their sound has been described as occupying "a loose area somewhere between Biffy and The Music, with a Bloc Party twang as they dip their toes daintily into the waters of the commercial mainstream before they jump straight out again making loud obnoxious noises" and their energetic and intense live performances have won over crowds all over London and the South-East, gaining them a reputation for being a must-see act.On 8th August 2008, Welcome to Winchester were announced the winners of the Man's choice final of The Stable, an annual battle-of-the-bands held at the Tunbridge Wells Forum. The fact that the next day, they went on to win the Fan's choice final of the same competition - beating 69 other bands - shows their ability to appeal to both Industry types and the general public. In doing this, they became the first band to win both coveted titles in the competition's 7 year history.Soon to enter the studio to record their new E.P, Welcome to Winchester hope to continue to expand their fanbase by playing as much as possible. After all, its what they do best! MyGen Profile Generator
“an exceptional band, full of energy” - Dave Jackson, Bed Springs Promotions
"clean, heads-down, crooning alt-rock that sounds like it belongs in 2008...Invigorating and funky one moment, rough and nasty the next." - Paul Mills, Blam Online
"Beat full indie rockers, but whats with the rubbish name? Anyway, never mind, the tunes are strapping Vampire weekend or Foals shaped outings." - The Hope & Anchor
