SUBMIT?

About Me

Submit? is a band that subtly blurs the lines of definement unspokenly set by the punk community as well as the remainder of our society. The band began in 1996, long before any members had arrived to participate. Submit? was the awareness of social and ethical injustices and perhaps more importantly a catalyst for the active termination of these injustices. By 1997, Submit? had recruited its first member, Jarrod. Having stepped into this awareness and finding himself alone, he soon began recording and relating Submit? to the people it was trying to reach. With this being a tremendously huge task for one person; taking on the work of Submit?, Submit? soon recruited another member. In 1998, Tiffany found herself in the service of Submit? Shortly thereafter, the first Submit? recording surfaced. A self-titled 7" was released on SYSTEMSUCK RECORDS. These 6 songs quietly challenged the definition of punk music. It had a drum machine, but it couldn't be called techno or industrial. It had male and female vocals dealing with social issues, but wasn't mellow enough to be folk. It had noisy guitars, but no solo's to find it's place in metal, or rock. It was only obvious that this WAS punk. Any person left to deny Submit? into the world of punk would only be casting shadows of definition and rules of participation; the very objects of the basis of the punk rebellion. Submit? was asking the world if they would submit to the type of conditioning that begets such paradox. Submit? was calling for a moral revolution through an open mind. During the next two years, Jarrod and Tiffany traveled extensively throughout the United States. During this time, Submit? had materialised a second 7" e.p., 'ConformObeyComply'. This six song piece of vinyl was also released on SYSTEMSUCK RECORDS. Within a year after it's release, a full length cd had been recorded, followed by more and more recordings-- Submit? was beginning to present to society more and more accounts of unjust social and moral issues. Submit? was asking more and more often, "why do you submit to these situations and participate in their actions?" Soon Submit? realised that this task needed more recruits. Submit? sent Jarrod back to the terrifying tundras of Montana. It wasn't long before Submit? had sent the new recruits to all gather in the mountains. Tiffany...Rockshark...Shiloh...Chris...Splat. Now it was becoming obvious that Submit? was building an army. Submit? was preparing to fight a war against the standards of traditional modern living and the conditions that it placed on all at birth. Submit? would not be stopped. ...But changed, oh yes, it would be changed. Imploding as violently as Submit? was exploding across the highways; casualties were reported everywhere. When Submit? got a wound, a ducttape-band-aid was stapled on before the first drop of blood hit the ground. Performing shortly as a three piece, new songs started to surface. Soon, ZEBEDIAH fell in front of a microphone. CHRIS ROTTEN went to get fresh with the portland girl/banjo army. Zebulon followed his bass and then there was SUBMIT? v9.2.5. The 'MADDONKEY-TELEVISION RIDES AND EXPLOSIVE MICROWAVES' tour blasted the west coast; just moments before imploding tendencies rolled in again. In an erie cloud of silence, you could faintly hear the kid in the corner whisper to his friend: "be careful, this is the calm before the storm."
