World Trade Center

About Me

The legendary Gothenburg band World Trade Center have, though they during their brief career only recorded two songs, achieved cult status amongst punk/noise fans all over the world. The band formed when the drummer Per-Magnus found his soulmate in the bassplayer Krillo, and after some time Krillo brought in his old friend Anders on guitar. With Anders maniac guitar sound the band only had one way to go: Straight into the strange world of noise, heavy riffs and lightspeed wah-wah guitars that was to become World Trade Center. The name came naturally after the way the sound developed, but other names like GBG Tsunami Surfers and The Undercover Onions was also considered. That endless summer of 2005 magical jam sessions and genius songwriting was happening in Gothenburg. Sadly, very little of this are left for the rest of the world. The very typical WTC-song Down By The Pool with it's tsunami of wah-wah's and strange rhytm (and lack of vocals), and the very hard-to-find Spanish Waiter (another instrumental which might give a hint that a softer and more psychedelic direction in the sound would have developed if the band didn't brake up) are the only songs left from the legendary Solberga sessions in february 2006. Shortly after that recording World Trade Center disbanded. The main reason was that Anders mind was set on a career as a hip-hop producer (and that his guitar broke) which is now creating a buzz in the underground scene on the swedish west coast. Krillo is now a recluse, spending all of his time in his room in Örgryte listening to his rare 60's records, but can sometimes be seen at the record shop "Hampakillen" hunting for more obscure vinyl. Per-Magnus is now focusing at his surrealistic neo-renaissance painting, and has moved backed to his mother at the Bohuslän countryside.
