About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting

..
Honest yet diplomatic. Focused while relaxed. Both a thinker and a doer. I love my life! Sometimes I am a bit quiet but those that truly know me know that it's because there are about a hundred thoughts going through my head at any given moment. If you can live with not knowing every one of them and have the capacity to be just plain silly, we'll be cool.

My Interests

Dance (salsa, samba, zouk, forró, club); friends (new and old); travel; restaurants; home improvement (I like power tools!); political science (particularly international affairs); nightlife; wine; learning (in general); beach; people-watching.

I'd like to meet:

Old friends & acquaintances. Intriguing, stimulating, multi-faceted, new friends.*** People who speak Enguêsfrañol or some variant.*** People who can (and do) hold drunken conversations about latin american politics.*** I don't care about having a zillion friends on MySpace. I do care about knowing a bit about each of them so if you want to add me as your friend please send me an email and establish a dialogue first.

Music:

Salsa, Samba, Rock, Reggae, Zouk, Forró, Classical, Country, Pagode, Bossa, Lounge, Dancehall.....

Movies:

Yeah, I like 'em.

Television:

I rarely watch it but I really like that House guy, any CSI, the funny animals on AFHV, So You Think You Can Dance, and the occasional Brazilian novela (what can I say....they suck you in!) Oh, and most recently, Nip N'Tuck (but I can't watch the actual surgeries!) and Entourage.

Books:

1001 Places to Visit Before You Die; Conversations with God; The Four Agreements; Sexual Position of the Day (just checking to see who's reading!); The Prophet; The Alchemist, the Little Prince; The Mastery of Love. It's nice to finally be able to read something that's not assigned.

Heroes:

My parents, for starting over in a new country when already in their thirties.

Waters of March

A Remarkable Bus Ride

Yesterday, as the bus I was on made its way in to Lapa, an older gentleman boarded, dressed in the uniform of a long-distance bus line operator.   Desperate and sputtering, half-crying and u...

Life

It's been a while since I've posted any blogs (not to say that I haven't been writing!) so I thought I'd offer up this tidbit: Life is nothing but a dream, and if we are artists, then we can create ...

It's Saturday night at the salsa spot, Cuba Libre, in Ipanema.  "Come on. Let's go.  Leandro is taking us to a party downtown.  Free Beer.  Let's go." "All right," I say, shruggi...

Any Given Sunday (Rio Style)

I hear the birds chirping and can sense the sunlight through my eyelids. It's Sunday morning in Rio de Janeiro.  Though my body is a bit achy (probably a combination of the heat, incessant travel...

Those of you that know me fairly well know that I'm one to reserve judgement until I feel like I really know a subject.  Well, it's been 4 months and while I haven't been a hardcore adherent to t...
