Piroth - the sisters Nina and Johanna grew up in Stockholm, with family roots in Finland and Austria. They started making music together while spending summers in the Alps as kids. The surroundings were very inspiring and since their mother always brought a guitar and music was always a part of the family, both taught themselves to play and songs after songs were created. After singing in choirs, playing in a high school band, playing violin in orchestras, Nina and Johanna decided to focus on their duo, Piroth. The sound of Piroth, with a base of guitar and vocal harmonies coupled with a variety of live and sampled instruments, developed through the years into a style they begun to call bitter/sweet - a mix of acoustic pop, bossanova, and poetic ballads with punk and folk influences. In 2004 the sisters decided to embark on a tour, stopping in Salzburg, Zagreb and Berlin. The tour provided them with the opportunity to record an EP in Berlin. Back home in Stockholm, they created Oma Gusti Records, and Piroth’s EP Alternative Tour was released in December 2004. Since then, Piroth have been living and playing in Germany (Berlin), Finland, and Sweden. The EP has received airplay on several radio stations, including TWEN FM, Fritz Berlin and Zündfunk Bayern Radio. In August 2007 the second release on Oma Gusti took place, the debut album of Piroth "Prima Ballerina", 9 songs which are written, recorded and produced by Piroth.
