"One Giant Leap" is here and waiting for YOU!

About Me

The Cheap Suits were born in a basement in Scarborough, Ontario. What started as a one-off performance for their high school talent night quickly turned into a promising career for these young upstarts. Now years later, the band has found its footing and sound with their catchy and infectious blend of pop, punk, ska and soul.
With 3 full-length D.I.Y. releases already under their belt, the Suits kicked off an extensive 2-year touring stint around their last offering, 2003’s King Kong Girio-produced ‘Canadian Idles’ (Girio’s other producing credits include work with Flashlight Brown, Planet Smashers and Kingpins). Incredibly well-received by fans and music critics alike, ‘Canadian Idles’ quickly established the band as local ska favourites.
The band teamed up once again with King Kong Girio and engineer Richard Benoit (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sum 41, David Usher) to produce ‘One Giant Leap’, their most memorable album to date. Released on July 4, 2006 via Maple Music / Universal, ‘One Giant Leap’ is jam-packed with timeless rock anthems, from the catchy, hook-laden One Small Step to the soulful stylings of Sing The Blues.
The soundtrack for a new generation of two-tone loving teenagers everywhere, ‘One Giant Leap’ showcases the band’s unique fusion of ska, blues, pop-punk and soul. Building an ever-growing following amongst college crowds across the country, the Cheap Suits were most recently named Indie Artist of the Year at COCA 2006 (Canadian Organization of Campus Activities) in Edmonton, further solidifying the band’s standing as a favourite among young people across the nation!
But what really sets the Cheap Suits apart from other acts is their energetic live set. Having shared the stage with everyone from Bedouin Soundclash, Matthew Good, I Mother Earth and K-Os to The Slackers, The Suicide Machines, and Teenage Head, the band’s energy and hard work has been winning new fans at every show.
With their strongest album to date, a West Coast summer tour under their belts, and a slew of dates including performances alongside Metric, Kardinal Offishall, and Hedley, 2006 proved to be the biggest year yet for the Cheap Suits. 2007 is looking to be even better. So throw the album in your stereo, put your dancing shoes on and watch as the Cheap Suits take One Giant Leap to the top of the charts!
