Scott Lucas, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, has been singing the high praises of God for most of his life. From the rich musical heritage of the Pentecostal church, Scott began singing with his family as a young boy, and by age 12, he was a regular featured soloist with the sanctuary choir at his home church. With the development of his gift came more opportunities to reach broader audiences, and by age 16, Scott took his vocal ministry on the road and performed before audiences ranging from prison and street ministries to regional and statewide church conferences. As Scott continued to minister in song, God’s calling on his life became more apparent. James Wilson, former male-vocalist and pianist for Joyce Meyer Ministries said of him, “Scott has a real heart for ministry and a love for people.†Scott’s gift and heart for ministry continued to open doors, and at age 18, he began to travel with James Wilson Ministries. Later that same year, Scott sang before an audience of more than 10,000 at the Church of God General Assembly where he was named Male-Vocalist of the year for the state of Virginia.
In addition to his ministry as a vocalist, Scott has also obtained extensive experience in the promotion and production of Christian music. Scott got his start by promoting local independent artists and later went on to become a regional coordinator for artists from major Christian labels. Scott has promoted and/or produced live concerts for such well-known artists as The Gaither Homecoming Concert Series, Michael English, Mark Lowry, Clay Crosse, Michael W. Smith, Avalon, Newsong, Rebecca St. James, Natalie Grant, and many others.
At the core of Scott’s ministry is his commitment as a worshiper. He attributes this commitment to the deep roots that he planted as a member and later as the Praise and Worship leader at the Azalea Garden Church in Virginia Beach. Senior Pastor Aubrey Maye said of him, “Scott is a great communicator and an effective Minister of Music. I have observed within him a freshness of commitment and sincerity which has only enhanced his ability to minister through song.â€
Apart from his love for the Lord, the love of Scott’s life is his lovely wife, Michelle, and their two children: son, Casey and daughter, Skyler. Scott said of Michelle, “Other than Jesus, she is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. She is the main reason I am who I am today!†Scott and his family currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee where he serves as the lead singer for the long-time Southern Gospel group, the Telestials. In addition to his work with the group, Scott also has a solo project titled, “Safe Thus Far†which was produced by Shane Dunlap, formerly of N' Harmony & Signature Sound. Shane said of his close friend, “Scott Lucas is a true man of God with an incredible passion for ministry. If you meet him, you will love his spirit, and will appreciate his gift for communicating with people.†Through all of the ups and the downs of life and after many years of effective and diverse music ministry, Scott and his message have stayed the same: “God still loves, God still saves, and God still forgives!â€
