About Me
J Collins is known for his smooth approach
reminiscent of the classic R&B vocalists of our time,
and yet he has a fresh sound that easily adapts to
todays young audiences. Once signed to RCA with the
group Ten2Five, he has broken out on a solo career,
having recently moved to New York in 2005.Jeromes diverse talent has taken him in many varied
directions, having been featured most notably with the
classic R&B group Earth, Wind, & Fire, or at Carnegie
Hall as a featured soloist with the Cincinnati Pops,
as well as on PBS. In addition, Jerome has opened for
Gladys Knight, Lou Rawls, and Bebe Winans, and has
collaborated with producers Darryl Simmons and Keith
Thomas. While studying music at Indiana University, Jerome
took part in many ensembles such as the IU Singing
Hoosiers and the IU Broadway Cabaret, but his most
memorable performances were with the renowned A
Cappella ensemble Straight No Chaser. He has written
and recorded jingles and has performed the national
anthem at many sporting events such as the
Indianapolis 500 and various professional baseball and
basketball games at Wrigley Field and the RCA Dome.J Collins new music, featured here on MySpace, is a
powerful glimpse of what is yet to come: a blend of
soulful melody and songwriting with substance,
powerfully versed in both retro R&B and contemporary
radio, not to mention the talent featured: Game Dont
Love Me & Head On My Pillow written by veteran producer
Scott Jacoby, (John Legend, Naturally 7, Laura Izibor), and Teron
Beal, (Whitney Houston, Bonnie Raitt, Mya), paints a
picture of a player who isnt sure he wants to play
anymore, (produced by Scott Jacoby). The next song
finds Jerome pleading with the woman he loves to not
let go of a Good Thing, co-written by Jerome and
Jonny Perkins, (Jason Nevins, The Orange Factory, Lil
Eddie). The last song, Dont Go, also co-written by
Collins and Perkins, is a classic R&B ballad featuring
Jeromes rich harmonies he is so well known for. As
his career progresses, we will have much to look
forward to from J Collins as he makes his mark as
a fresh and innovative participant in the R&B and
Neo-Soul communities as well as the overall music
industry.For bookings Contact:
