The Beginning of a New Era
LINGO
Amid the scores of albums by Hip-Hop and R&B artist, LinGo' s raw but good-feeling renditions of songs actually capture the essence of soul, R&b and modern hip-hop. This talented artist is not just a rapper but is considered to be operating in the art of music. One of the most talented artists in the south today, LinGo's genius has been felt by many yet few know his name. That's because he's served primarily as a producer. Like great producers before him. LinGo is showing that he too can rock the mic in addition to crafting some of the best songs around. When LinGo chants,"Let’s Goâ€he's not just talking about another catchy phrase. He's talking about his swagger, his hustle, and getting across another obstacle that has been placed in his way. He's talking about his success and repeatedly pushing against the odds. He's talking about everything he has and will become. "My music is honest music. The records are straight to the point, fun, and organic," says, LinGo. "It's not the usual," he stresses. "Writing for many artists I have developed as a better writer and allow me to understand that everything I write doesn't have to be about drugs, sex, and violence to have success in hip-hop." I'm not trying to change urban music to make radio, like Kanye West says, but to break radio. LinGo has been humbly paying his dues for a couple of years now and feels that it's time to carry his own weight. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a newly born artist, he honed his skills while making rounds at local events and talent shows, performing alongside local rappers and r&b artists, "I knew I had to take control of my own career in order to be successful." In 2003, LinGo began to work on several mix tape albums around the state in order to display his talents in a larger circuit. He continued to keep the formula but use the mic as an outlet. I am steady grinding, day in and day out. Its hard work, but I know that without sacrifice I could n ever fully enjoy the fruits of my labor", says LinGo. "I lived the life of not allowing anyone into my music. This came with the fear that they may get in and change what I knew was me. So making the decision to do me wasn't hard at all" says LinGo. "I want people to understand that music is power and that power requires responsibility, with that being said, I can't let someone change my power and be responsible for the results."We have enough followers, more than enough pretenders, all of whom are very talented," says LinGo, but what is the message that is being conveyed. Not be your self to make money. "I mean music is a form of empowering. It helped free the minds of our ancestors as slaves. I'm ready to get behind something that says it's ok to be yourself. If you're not a thug and grew up in the suburbs then make your music from what you have experienced. Allow what you see and hear everyday to be expressed for people to listen.
