Bootleg Hippie Porn is mainly a solo act (although others have been known to join in) consisting of Asheville, NC based musician/songwriter/producer Matt McDaniel. The idea of Bootleg Hippie Porn was formed over many years, and has been around under many different names (some of which are current aliases of Matt's to this day). With a true passion for music and human emotions, Bootleg Hippie Porn is more like an experience than a live show...layers and textures of sound drift in and out of the speakers around steady drum and bass grooves and dusty soul loops, and it takes a minute to really kick in the fact that it's one man on stage making all the sounds. You'll never see it coming, and suddenly, you can't stop moving...Live shows are much like the recording sessions in which BHP makes it's music, in that anything goes, and nothing is ever going to happen the same way twice...just to witness the live show is reason enough to see Bootleg Hippie Porn. You'll also have a damn good time...and 'ya might get lucky, too!

Band Members: Matt McDaniel: Vocals, Guitars (Acoustic, Electric and Slide), Organ, Minimoog Voyager, Roland Juno 60, Rhodes Piano Bass, Moog Little Phatty synth, Nord Lead 2 synth, Dave Smith Evolver synth, bass guitar, Technics sl-1200's, MPC2000, all production is done in a home studio based around Mac/ProTools/Ableton Live/ and various other soft and hardware programs and Tape Machines.For live shows, a combination of an Oberheim Echoplex and a laptop running ableton live is used for looping/live sequencing.Various drum machines, vintage and modern, are used for beats...but the most common method is the old fashioned way...some good jazz or soul vinyl, and the trusty MPC.From time to time, various musicians appear live and on recordings with BHP...some are real, some are aliases...all are creative in their own way.
