Hello and thank you for visiting Vesperal Vanguard on MySpace.
Vesperal Vanguard is a concept that started about five years ago as a long-distance project between two friends. That original project eventually yielded to the obstacles of distance but the concept remained very much the same: to make heavy, dark, but melodic rock.
After spending a few years traveling, Sebastian, guitarist and vocalist, returned to New York and decided to revive the original idea. He spent a year paying his dues with previous members of the now defunct local legends Detour until, in January of 2009, he came upon Vlad Hâncu, a drumming prodigy from Romania.
When Vlad came on board in January of '09, he had been behind a drum set only once in his life--when he was nine years old. During his very first lesson, the teacher told him he was hitting the drums "too hard" and refused to teach him for fear he'd break them. Needless to say, this was divine proof that Vlad was meant for VV.
VV IS CURRENTLY SEEKING A NEW BASSIST. Team players only. We've had enough of passive-aggressive, antisocial bitches with a deluded sense of their own pathetically inferior skills. Enthusiasm and team spirit is a MUST. We are the ideal situation for someone who might not have had that much experience but is looking to get out there and start getting it right away. We played five gigs in the winter of '09 and will be maintaining a fairly busy local gigging schedule starting spring of '10, so you better be ready to start rocking New York very soon if you join us!
Vesperal Vanguard is still on the lookout for a rock keyboardist who can rule the octaves like Jon Lord, but in the meanwhile we are more than ready to start rocking this town. With songs owing equal parts to "classic" and progressive rock as well as eclectic "world" influences, VV can simultaneously sound both wistful and mournful, ethereal and hopeless, innocent and menacing.
We are still honing our live chops, but have no doubt that Vesperal Vanguard is on the way to becoming a live show that'll crush your skull and leave what's left of it humming for hours after!
We're looking to play anywhere and everywhere, we'll even rock your granny's funeral if you'll only let us. If you're a booking agent in the New York metro or tri-state area, don't hesitate to contact us.
