‘…genius, I should break your f*@~%g hands!’ – Shane MacGowan
Slapped out like a newborn calf, gave up the dirty nappy drone office job, wrote some songs, recorded them, Gerry Anderson played them, and here we are.
Spent the last two years living in the south of Spain, loving the culture, food and corruption. Bored yet? Me too. Have a look and listen to the selfless toils of others who make my humble offerings listenable. Check out Matthew's photos, directing, and... and...
Now for the self-congratulatory nonsense...
Junior has shared the stage in the recent past with Shane MacGowan, Sean Cannon (The Dubliners), Frankie Miller’s Full House band and, in more recent times with thee guitarist, Henry McCullough. The gigs are laid-back, mostly two-piece events with plenty of sweet guitaring from Dermot McBride (tomredmusic) and sometimes with Odhran El Bajo Devlin. After being set aside of the outstanding competition, Junior has been honoured with the title of L.A. Music Awards Folk Artist of the Year 2006 for his song The Fireside, an honest detailing of the life that a once unfortunate friend leads now. This highly coveted acknowledgment is an achievement that further shows Junior’s raw talent as a solo artist.
Receiving continual support from regional and international radio stations has seen Junior played on BBC Radio since July 2005, at least thrice a week. The various radio stations where you can hear his music include BBC Radio Ulster (Gerry Anderson Show, Alan Simpson Show, George Jones Show, Ralph McLean Show), Fame Games (world’s largest webcast) and Q102.
