About Me

see more crazy cat pics I'm just your average Bodhisattva Tara, a part-time lover and a full-time friend.I am a happy but moody, outgoing person that also likes my alone time. I am obsessed with music and art in all forms. Architecture/construction is my work and it enthralls me. My daughter is my greatest inspiration. I love my friends and they love their "Tara Time". I am usually Devil's advocate when others come to me with conflicts. I will be the first to make you laugh and the first to offer a shoulder for you to lean or cry on. I am easily entertained by the simplest of things that others might overlook or dismiss. I am strong yet fragile, so please be gentle with my soul. Elephants and snowglobes rock. "With total commitment, total concentration, and a mad sort of panache." -Hunter S. Thompson

My Interests

Spending time with my daughter and family, creating and experiencing art, architecture, construction and design, origami, live local music (my addiction), SLAM poetry, movies (particularly watching artsy flicks) playing pool, sharing great food and good wine with friends, museums, flea markets, finding that elusive 6 hours of deep sleep. Scotch, lots of scotch. The Elephant is the greatest animal of all time. Bitchin snowglobes are the holy grail.

I'd like to meet:

* Albert Einstein * Thomas Edison * Bill Clinton * Jim Henson * Grandfather Jalmer * Grandfather Mark * Joseph Campbell * Frank Lloyd Wright * Frida Kahlo * Dr. Seuss * Pablo Picasso * Robin Williams * Madeleine Albright * Molly Ivins * A Walking Tour of the Train Interior

Music:

Early in life, I was influenced by my parents with the likes of: Willie Nelson, Ravi Shankar, B B King, Bob Marley, Nick Drake, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Rolling Stones, The Who, Donovan, Classical music and anything that NPR and PBS played. This blended medley continues on and some of my current favs are (but certainly not limited to) on my ever changing iPod: JOHNNY LLOYD ROLLINS, Cadillac Sky, The Campaign, Radiant, MIKA, Junior Senior, Sam Roberts Band, Sea Wolf, U2, Cold Play, Blackalicious, Donavon Frankenreiter, Leon Redbone, Band of Horses, Harry Nilsson, Manishevitz, David Byrne, Teenage Symphony, Woodbelly, old Jazz & Blues acts and classics, Portishead, Scissor Sisters, Willie Nelson, Poi Dog Pondering, AC/DC, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails etc.... You get the picture. I am forever venturing out to find a great new local band or artist. I am a live music whore!! lol. You can usually find me in Deep Ellum, FTW Arts District, but lately I've been enjoying more of the superfine "hole in the wall" places across DFW.

Movies:

The Royal Tenenbaums, SERENITY, Chocolat, Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, Harvey, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Amelie, Frida, El Orfanato, Boys Don't Cry, Party Monster, Magnolia, The Last Temptation of Christ, Babe, The Big Lebowski, Rabbit Proof Fence, Lonesome Dove, Punch-Drunk Love, Secretary, The Grapes of Wrath, Anne of Green Gables, We're Back, American Splendor, The Squid and the Whale, The Hudsucker Proxy, Clerks I & II, and the ever-popular "The Nightmare Before Flint Street"

Television:

Okay, I am a boob tube freak at times. Watching TV & movies is how I relax and unwind when I am at home and not listening to music. The following are shows that I tend to watch and are in no particular order: CBS Sunday Morning, The Daily Show, The Riches, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Fraggle Rock, Six Feet Under, Ugly Betty, Nova, All Creatures Great & Small, The Big Bang Theory, Friday Night Lights, SpongeBob SquarePants, House (on FOX), South Park, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, Scrubs, American Idol (I admit it), Grey's Anatomy, Sesame Street, Firefly, everything on Discovery Channel, TLC, BBC America & PBS.

Books:

A Fine Balance, The Tao of Pooh, Lonesome Dove, The ARMY Survival Guide, Palladio's Guide to Architecture, Uncle John's Bathroom Reader, The Dance of Anger, The Complete Book of Sewing. Advanced Techniques of Deep Tissue Massage, 365 Recipes For Fun Children's Meals, Origami for Enthusiasts

Heroes:

I think that the word "hero" is a bit contrived. There are people that I admire and respect, but I do not yearn to be like anyone else. I am my own person; faults and assets galore! But this is list of who Molly Ivins calls heroes..."militant blacks, angry Indians, radical students, uppity women and a motley assortment of other misfits and troublemakers." RIP Molly. Oh, my daughter, mom and sisters, they rock! My friend Devin is pretty close to a hero, I really admire him. My heroes are "heroicaler". Add Optimus Prime to the list.
