About Me

I suppose I am one of the educated few who actually learned something when it was taught. I read, I write, and most importantly I think.

Gods, I hate this crap. I don't know what I am. Ask me again in twenty years. So instead, I will let Stupid Online Generators tell you what I am! Three cheers for stupid online generators.

My Interests

I like math. I am a great big math geek. I do calculus in my head, for fun. There are those who say that is wrong on many levels and it probably is. To them I say: "Smart chicks rule." I really enjoy Quantum Field Theory because I also like physics (I even have a degree in it). However, if you should ever run into me in a bar, more than likely I will not be talking about either math or physics. I do have a life.

I like to game, mostly along the lines of roleplaying, though I do enjoy the occasional hack and slash type game. I play both video and paper style games as well as the occasionaly MUD.

I love music and play the bass. I also play a little guitar, violin and bassoon. I do not sing. I sound like a cross between that guy from Counting Crows and Janis Joplin and believe me, it is not as cool as that cross sounds.

I'd like to meet:

Well, my top three historical people would be:

    Atilla the HunThomas JeffersonEnheduanna
The top three living people I would like to meet are:
    The Dalai LamaHaruki MurakamiJulie Newmar

Music:

Music for me depends on my mood. I dig on jazz, but also heavy metal. I like grunge, but also new wave. If I had to list my top five favorite bands for what I listen to most right now; (in no particular order) the list would like this:

Better than Ezra Nickel Creek Rasputina Wolfsheim Our Lady Peace
If I had to name my top five single artists for what I listen to most right now; (also in no particular order) the list would probably be something like this:
Shiela Nicholls Tori Amos Billie Holiday Norah Jones Sting
If I had to name my all time favorite songs, I would be hard pressed, but here are a few of what may be on there:
Mary Oingo Boingo Gravity of Love Enigma Mad World Either Tears for Fears or Gary Jules Heroine Wolfsheim Lifetime Better than Ezra Duvet Boa Bei Mir Bist Du Schon Any Version

Movies:

I love old movies. I love old musicals and studio productions. One of my favorite old timey movie stars is Danny Kaye. I loved The Court Jester, Five Pennies, A Song is Born and many other of his works. Some of my favorite older movies include: Cyrano starring Jose Ferrar, Hidden Fortress directed by Akira Kurosawa, and My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn.

I like movies that make me think. I am not a fan of the Romantic Comedy. Blech, I'd rather gouge out my eyes with a splintered toothpick. For my mindless entertainment, I much prefer gory horror films or retard shoot-em-up action flicks.

I like Foreign movies. I watch a lot of Japanese (non-anime even) and Chinese films. I like Ang Lee and Akira Kurosawa. Eat, Drink, Man, Woman is probably one of Lee's best. Kurosawa is just a genius who can't do anything wrong. From Samurai Seven to Madadayo Kurosawa is a brilliant, brilliant man.

Television:

My cat and I watch Law and Order together. As soon as the opening music starts, he is in my lap purring, contentedly watching the screen. Really, I don't watch a whole lot of TV. My weakness is cartoons. I love them. I watch Teen Titans, Justice League, anime of all flavors, Family Guy and the Simpsons.

I used to watch more TV, but I no longer have cable and I'm not in school any more, so I don't have the time. I have bought every season of MASH as it has come out and my husband and I sit down and watch that. I also watch the old Quantum Leap, Fraggle Rock, and of course, Law and Order.

Books:

I don't even know where to begin. Ye Gods, I read more than most people I know (put together). I read mostly modern fiction. I don't touch Fantasy or Sci-fi, though you may see me perusing the Kurt Vonegut, J.K. Rowling, or Douglas Addams section.

I have read most of the major 'Classics'. I won't touch Moby Dick. It wasn't liked when it came out by anyone, its not well liked now, so screw it. Aside from that, I've conquered most of the hefty tomes of scholastic reading (and even some of the lighter tomes).

My favorite authors are Tim Sandlin, Haruki Murakami, Kanzebura Oe, *cough*Stephen King*cough* (yes yes, I know, damn him and the Stand for getting my hooked), Tom Robbins, Jeffrey Eugenides, Amy Tan, and Chuck Palahniuk.
